It's all relative....when it comes to things like "best program in the State of Louisiana," you and I speak an entirely different language and you ain't got Rosetta Stone to help you break it down into something you can understand....

I absolutely think that McNeese is the best program in the state. We do more with less than anybody. Though Nicholls will suprise the hell out of you sometimes... We'll play anybody, anywhere (except Southern, for reasons we've already listed) and we get after their ass...

USL's played LSU 22 times and needs to put out an APB on the Endzone, because they can't find the damn thing...88 quarters and NO touchdowns..ever...not even close. The only time a USL player has been in the endzone in Tiger Stadium is during pre-game warm-ups...

It only took McNeese one half of one quarter to take lead on LSU, the very first time we walked into the place...

McNeese gets a 3.2 million dollar per year subsidy from the state for football....USL gets roughly 7 million from the state.....but we score 10 points against LSU, the first half....and USL scores 3...

For those of you keeping score, that's 320 k per point for McNeese to 2 million per point for USL.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see which one is the better value. And that's not even considering head to head competition....

Tech won't play us...they can't take that chance....

ULM's played us, but they got beat...so they can't take that chance either...

Somebody else posted a link to "All time wins" that showed Southern with more wins than McNeese and a higher ranking....fair enough.....it also showed McNeese has a higher winning percentage...and that comes against SUperior competiton...you guys do remember the concept behind SUperior competition, right??

Anyway...LSU is the Pre-eminent program in Louisiana...they're the flagship and have the lions share of the resources...there's no denying that...

But, even with that, I still think my team has the best "program" based on things like consistency and honor.

I don't expect you to understand that because, frankly, it involves the concept of honor and doesn't focus on aesthetics and/or attendance...

You got me and you are right. McNeese is such an honorable school when it comes to football. But since football is just another form of entertainment, I'm glad McNeese has honorably entertained you. But what's more important to me, which has nothing to do with football, I'm sure McNeese honorably taught you not to disenfranchise anyone's right to vote. Did you ever find out if Campbell University in North Carolina is a polling location? And yes we do speak a different language. I don't speak the language that put down others just make myself feel good, but I understand. It was the way you were raised.

No dog in this hunt, however I am curious about the the time period?

You don't have to remind them of the drubbings they took in the series. They KNOW...and, it wasn't just ONCE....unlike Southern, they didn't punk out and run out until after the contract did! ;)

Dude, what is your real reason for being mad at Southern? Is it because you didn't like our outfits. Seems to me if a school got its ass kicked by your school and decided not to play your school again, should be totally insignificant to you. But I guess there has to be a reason to your madness. Maybe you like telling folks you don't speak their language.

We've already covered that, yes, there's a polling place on the campus of Campbell University...you already know this...We discussed the fact that I gave you a citation from the first website that came up in my search. If you look at the timing of the posts, you'll see that it's not like I had time to go research and find a "favorable" site...and, I even qualified the post by saying "if the Democratic Women website is correct"...

But, I'll accept your waving of the white flag of surrender. I can tell you've had enough ;) But, I think you should stop with the holier-than-thou attitude that you don't try to put people down. You've been TRYING to do that on a number of threads here. It's not MY fault you're just not as good at it as you think you are...

When have you heard me say SU football program is on top of its game. Please reference the post that I stated as such. I hope you are not telling another lie without doing your research. In-depth research can't be your forte'.

Also, I don't have to try to put you down. You do a pretty good job doing it yourself. I guess it's just the way you are.

Do you really wanna know what my issue is with Southern?

It's easy....in 2002, I think...there was a discussion for McNeese and Southern to play...a contract was sent over and - apparently - signed. Southern announced the series....then Pete got pissed off and said that if he was gonna hafta play Northwestern and McNeese, he might as well be IN the SLC. Suddenly, another announcement came out that the contract HADN'T been signed and that there would be NO series...

Okay...fine....then send us back our unsigned contract...

Crickets....Southern indicated they wouldn't be sending the contract back. Now why would you suppose that somebody wouldn't send back a contract that they announced had been signed, then announced hadn't been signed???

Seems like only ONE logical reason to me...

So..then that brings us to the Grambling series. It was a great series...lots of great interaction between the fans...and some really good games, particularly the 2003 game. That was a damned hard fought contest. That's what Football is all about....

So....back to Southern...

That game got made because three former Cowboys started a conversation, then two of them went off and got it done. I spoke to former Poke kicker Pat Neck, who had coached Breck Ackley, Southern's kicker and who was close to the Southern staff AND the McNeese staff...we talked about what a great thing it would be to get the La. SWAC schools in a set of series against the SLC schools. We even talked about the possibility of having a Double Header game between McNeese/Northwestern/SU and Grambling in S'port...or wherever! From there, I talked to former Poke linebacker John Belton (one of my teammates) and made the pitch for a McNeese/Southern game. He was on the Southern Board and had graduated from both schools, so he loved the idea....I put Pat and John in touch with each other (Pat's younger than us) and they pitched the idea to the coaching staffs and a couple of weeks later, voila! There was a deal...

Because of the way the earlier contract was handled there was a LOT of negativity from the McNeese folks who didn't want the series...I talked that shit up at every opportunity and all I heard was how Southern wouldn't honor the contract. That we'd go there and they'd find a reason to back out...Man, I assured them that wouldn't be the case...Once upon a time, I was probably the most prolific poster on the old McNeese Delphi board and I spent a lot of time talking about what a great thing that the series with Southern could be. Didnt' have a DAMN thing to do with money...I thought it was the right thing to do...Earlier in my life, I was a sports writer. I covered Grambling on more than a few occasions and got to talk to Coach Rob several times. I thought it would be a great thing to play the SWAC schools. It just made sense. How can two leagues have the same geographic footprint, in the same division, and NOT play?? Seemed stupid not to...

So..in good faith, we DID go to Southern first. And Southern DID back out without even trying to reschedule us to return the home and home...but they scheduled Nicholls, so CLEARLY, it wasn't about reluctance to play an SLC school...

Since then I've heard all sorts of things out of the Southern fan base...except the phrase.."Yeah, we should have honored the back end of the home and home."

The truth is, I don't care if we schedule y'all or not. In fact, I'd probably advocate against it as hard as I advocated for it, earlier. I'd LOVE to play any other team in the SWAC. I wouldn't support signing another contract with Southern. The buy out got paid, so it's water under the bridge....

Y'all are fun to mess with, though....

Here's another language difference. The "collective you" versus the "individual you"....

I'm glad we speak two different languages. Now do you want a cookie for pointing that out? I'm sure you want to be rewarded some how.

LOL...No cookies for me...I'm on a diet. I've actually learned some things on this thread. Since appearances are everything, I need to make sure I look GOOD in my game day outfit ;)

Here's a few outfit that might fit your taste: :emlaugh:

I'm sure those outfits makes the brothers on their team play harder. LSU knows what time it is.

Seems like McNeese didn't teach you how to recognize a Jaguar from a tiger? But I understand, it's the collective individual in you.

This just might be your pimping cousin:

See the spots on that Jaguar in your signature picture with the basketball? See the spots on the skin in the bottom photo?

Those ain't Tiger STRIPES...

Just like everything else we've been talking about...the truth is right there in front of you and you missed it!

What's LSU got to do with this conversation? Oh, wait...I know....you got distracted by the pretty outfits! Do you have some nice pumps or a purse that would go with that???

Since you keep talking about outfits, I thought I'll share some with you. But wait, now I understand why McNeese don't like SU's outfit. No one gets to see them in their outfits. Its a shame to be that good and nobody really knows who you are.

Yes, after opening week, nobody knows who we are, because we got NO airtime on any network, got no print coverage...nothing on SportsCenter...nothing in the New York Times...

We don't dislike your outfits. We just think your particular shade of blue is kinda anemic...It's not dark enough!

Dark Blue is Beautiful, Baby!

I believe the only time I saw McNeese play, was back in the 90's in a playoff game on T.V. against some school up north that kicked the dog shit out of them. And McNeese was the number 1 ranked team in D-1AA.

So you missed the 2004 Beatdown we gave you? What kinda fan are you?

Once again, that was almost a decade ago. We have a different AD, coach, president, and chancellor. So why keep a near decade grudge?
