Here's a link to what the folks covering FCS are saying about the SWAC over at The Sports Network after yesterday...

They think it's a good idea the SWAC doesn't send a rep to the playoffs...

With all due respect, I'm more concerned with the mindset and mentality of how we view ourselves than I am about what the Sports Network or folks at FCS think. While it may be true that we are past due in a turnaround, our athletes have to display that athleticism and talent and skill. As long as we continue to hang on to the mentality that we can't compete, we'll always remain at this point.

Regarding the quote about us having 19 returning starters and Ben being the preseason offensive player of the conference, it's foolish to go by previous year stats, considering no 2 seasons are ever the same. Not all of our players are suffering from ineligible issues, there are some that are injured and won't be playing this season. And Ben Anderson bruised his shoulder in the Arkansas State game and hurt his shoulder again in the game on yesterday. The Sports Network and other FCS folks should mention those factors about us and other SWAC schools when they post what they think to be their "facts" and "truths" about our conference.

I know we can improve and I know we have a lot of things we need to change. But even with the limited resources we have, that has nothing to do with athleticism. It goes back to what Founder and JayRob (and what I've been saying about my folks), we have to compete. It's not about winning, it's about competitiveness! And our athletes (SWAC) have to know this and execute their talents and skills on the field.

Yes, after opening week, nobody knows who we are, because we got NO airtime on any network, got no print coverage...nothing on SportsCenter...nothing in the New York Times...

We don't dislike your outfits. We just think your particular shade of blue is kinda anemic...It's not dark enough!

Dark Blue is Beautiful, Baby!

SU's colors are Columbia Blue and Gold, but SUNFLOWER Gold. Really McNeese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not seen excuses. They told you why the game wasn't rescheduled, and your money has been paid, so move on.

I'm just responding in kind. If it gets escalated, that's in direct response to the isht that Southern fans post here...

I'll make a deal with you. If you quit talking about outfits, attendance and RVs, I'll quit talking about the contract fiascoS...

I wasn't interesting in seeing a no name school like McNeese. But y'all did kick our ass.

You KNOW the only reason that anybody's ever even HEARD about Southern is because a Gramblinite, Collie Nicholson, thought up the Bayou Classic, right?

Average Football fan: "Southern? Southern what?? Who's that??"
Another Average Football fan: "Southern is that team Grambling beats up in the Bayou Classic. They're kinda like The Washington Generals of college football"

Try again, check the overall record of the series. Also Southern is known for things other than just football across the country.

I thought we agreed you weren't gonna bring up attendance, uniforms, the band or RVs??

Sorry band wasn't part of the deal. lol

But no I was talking about the other sports.

Yada yada yada. Well for starters UAPB did not play 19 returning starters in it's first 2 losses. It is what it is. The financial winds of success one day will have to blow towards our way. Remember one time The Big Ten was the mightiest conference. The Pac 10 now 12 was once the premiere conference of the nation. Success has it's cycles..we are just in a down cycle now but it has to go up according to cycle physics.

There you go lying again. Maybe you should look up the Bayou Classic series record or is that too hard for you to do since it would be like doing in-depth research? With all the lies you tell, McNeese's honor is going straight down the drain or maybe you meant that McNeese lies with honor.

I guess you haven't heard. McNeese has had the greatest football program since the beginning of time.

So you disagree with the fact that Southern owes the sum total of it's exposure to Collie Nicholson, a Gramblingite???

Here's more research for you. Since you like sharing with us the lone McNeese grad that served on SU Board and the Gramblinite who you say started the Bayou Classic, do you know which Grambling President hired Eddie Robinson and what school he graduated from? I'll give you a hint: Although his family was from Lake Charles, it was not that sunflower gold and blue school in Lake Charles. I'm sure you do realize, if it wasn't for that President's efforts, probably none of what you are talking about would have ever happen. You should learn how to do more in-depth research before you try to use your so-called facts or lies. Your facts are too shallow to have any creditability.

That would be Dr. Jones, right??

Did Collie Nicholson come up with the Bayou Classic concept, or not? Cuz I got THAT bit of information from Mr. Nicholson, himself...that's what he said before his death....

Are you saying that's not correct??

At least you know that about Grambling. Do you know who founded Grambling and what school he came from?

And you wonder why SU's grads read you so well when you first came in here. Remember, we are from Louisiana too and most of us weren't born yesterday.

Some people would say it was Eddie Robinsons idea, since he had the means to make it happen.

Other than having some dude to serve on SU's Board in recent years, his little school had nothing to do with the growth and development of not one Louisiana school. But he come in here like McNeese built every school in Louisiana.
