Really?? Stop it Beans, just Stop it. I know you don't like nothing about SU or Baton Rouge. But to sit there and say BR is the most boring Capital City you have been too is a reach. Just say you know where to go in Jackson and leave it at that. Both cities ain't New Orleans or Houston. But I know my hometown ain't popping no more than Baton Rouge. If anything I get pissed off that at least BR has made more progress than the home front. But that is another thread. I guess maybe if Ole Miss was actually in Jackson as a home campus then the white folks wouldn't have left the city. They didn't leave BR. But like I said, that is another thread. I am sure my country cousins in Hazlehurst and Terry Ms would find their areas more fun than Jackson or Baton Rouge just because they are familiar with it. But if the casual person with no ties to either city came to visit. Neither is going to rank high as somewhere that is just off the chain except on football Saturdays. That alone probably puts BR ahead of the crib.

Nah hommie...they have stuff goin on Year Round...it's a college town....catz had BR poppin on a Wednesday...Being from another city and just visiting u might not know where to go....ive been to ATL a few times and nothing was popping...but that didnt make me discredit it.....i just didnt know where to go that night...other than a strip club

Beans, ain't too many cities in the South on the ATL level. Most are not the capital cities of their state either. LOL. Tallahassee is the capital of Florida. I am sure it is sooooooo much fun as well. I don't think anyone compared Baton Rouge to Atlanta. LOL. Hell even the folks in BR wouldn't do that. Most of the capital cities are pretty much regular. Ga is probably the only state where their biggest and most vibrant city is also their capital city. Even in Texas, Austin is the capital. Even though it has become more entertaining in the last decade. It is still not Dallas, Houston, and probably for the Mexicans not even San Antonio. LOL. That's why I said you were stretching that.

Ole Miss is trying to expand in its capital city, but for some strange reason a school is doing whatever to block them.

Naw bruh, this don't have anything to do with SU or anything. I'm use to certain things and Red Stick put me in the mind of a Metropolitan City that just.got.left behind in times. I truly wish BR can elevate itself from being raped and held down all these years by the crooked white folks, but a lot of us seems not to care enough to want to put the right people in place.

we went to the lil underground thing where they have a few clubs..but it never got packed....then the next day...i forgot where it was but we went to some club....all i heard was East Side-West side...it was crunk for maybe somebody that live in ATL

JR, I'm not foolish enough to believe BR is even close to being like ATL , but its not even on Austin, Tx level. And like you just said, "Austin just elevated itself about a decade ago." Well, when the hell will BR elevate itself? Do you know how ATL elevated itself? Some of us said enough is enough. BR needs to do the same. I'm tired of seeing my home state sitting at the bottom of certain things cause we seem not to care.
 
to me...houston/atls/dallas are fun...they pop all the time.....but i have the most fun at a poppin club in places like BR,Jackson,shreveport,Laffyette,ect. they party hard because it isn't much in the city to do....as in big cities ...it's so much going on that u can skip parties for weeks and still find entertainment

And another thing JR, you want to know how other cities elevated itself? By bringing in a lot of corporate jobs. Not just those warehouse jobs. BR needs to work on attracting more Corporate Headquarters there.
 
Jimmy Carter and the 1996 Olympics helped make Atlanta a international city. Republican governors in Louisiana and Mississippi have done nothing to help their State's international image.

True, but Mayor Bill Campbell did a lot of good and brought a lot of company headquarters to the city. Now why can't someone do this for BR? Why can't BR be just as big as ATL?

Uh Beans, the ATL started it's elevation long before you got there. That airport was key to the success. BR has done well. They are getting businesses and growing. Don't know where you have been. But BR is much bigger than when I was in school.

JR, I know that. I know the history of ATL. Believe me. If BR has grown since.you were there, then I sure to hate to see it what it was before. N. or East BR is growing up by I-10 and heading towards New Orleans and I-12 going towards Hammond, but the rest is at.a stand still. And who actually be out that way? Not too many of us. But atleast that part is growing. Maybe some of that will spill over to the other areas.

Beans, you can't bring too many corporate headquarters without having world class entertainment. Only certain cities will be able to do that. You also need world class institutions (in the mind of white folks) that make folks move so they can attract and maintain top notch corporate level employees. Thank goodness for Atlanta they already had homegrown big corporations like Coke, Home Depot, Georgia Pacific. But don't get it twisted, it is not like a whole bunch of folks moved their headquarters to Atlanta outside of Delta. It ain't an Engineering/ Science Technology city. Even though Ga. Tech is there. Most of their grads have to leave. Ask TP and GSupe. Why you think Cee is in Huntsville still. You know he rather be in his hometown.

JR, dude I'm much smarter than you can.see. ATL was BOOMING in Engineering/Science Technology before 9/11. Trust dude, I know cause that's my field also and I kept a close eye on that field while I was there. It took a major hit after 9/11 in ATL. Some other cities probably didn't, but ATL did. And you just agreed with what I was saying. And A LOT of Headquarters jobs did move.to ATL. I really don't know where you be getting your info from.

The biggest problem with Louisiana, no one is never on the same page. The State is always working against its own municipalities and the State is never working on the same page as the federal government. Louisiana elects a Tea Party Governor when the Democrats controls the White House and the Senate. Mississippi might be worse than Louisiana, such as Jackson domed stadium. The State of Mississippi would never support a $200 million stadium in the City of Jackson as long as the city is majority Black and controlled by Blacks.

This state has always been its own worst enemy. With sooooooooo much potential, but keep putting the wrong ones in office (ex. Jindal). This state, along with BR could be a gem of the south if the right folks get in office and knows how to communicate with foreign leaders to bring businesses this way.

Baton Rouge have grown over the years, but not at a really fast pace like other places it compares to in the country, such as Richmond, VA, and Raleigh, NC. Both of those cities now have a metro population over 1 million. Right now, the area in Louisiana that is in the biggest decline is northeast Louisiana, basically the Monroe area. I do believe Vidalia, LA is somewhere in-between northeast and central Louisiana.

I do believe it was you who once said Jindal was doing the right things to get Louisiana on the right track. I do believe once Jindal is out of office, Louisiana would have only one way to go but up. IMO, Jindal was Louisiana most destructive governor. To turndown $300 million in stimulus money just because you don't like the current administration is beyond crazy.
