Only @ SU

I still think they did Pete wrong though. He wouldn't have lost four out of five games no matter what kind of players he had.

A lot of folks felt that way. Myself included. Regardless of if Pete was stubborn or on his way out, IMO LaFleur did him wrong. Folks still have it in for his dumb @$$.

Jax, JR indirectly says you're wrong about ole Pete. JR says he shudda been canned.

And that is his take on it. I have mine. We agree to disagree. Thing is, there is nothing either of us can do to change what happened to Coach Richardson.

You do know Pete was losing like that at the end. Just winning enough to stay above .500 at the end. Pete got stubborn. He should have brought in new coordinators to help him. Get younger on staff. Shake it up some. I don't think the man forgot how to coach. But his supporting staff was not very good outside of Dooley in my opinion. Orlando, Graves, etc were stubborn and all his assistant money was tied up in those 2. He should have promoted Dooley or never got rid of Oliver.

And actually the last games Big Worm lost were not as ugly as it seems. Both those Bama game losses were because of extra point conversion snafu's. Pine Bluff was just way better than we were and that game was over early. Now what I think Worm will have at his advantage this year is that he is not left with Stump's old staff. This is Worm's staff and his coaches he hired or kept. When you are an interim coach it is always a hard deal not knowing who is with you or who is not once the head man is let go. Especially when you got picked to be the interim over some cats.

He should be more organized this year and he has had a full year almost as head coach.

Even though he lost those last couple of games in 09, I felt he should have gotten the benefit of the doubt. Folks wanted him to stay but that incompetent imbecile dumbazz named Greg LaFleur had his AZZ on his shoulders and prolly at the backing of that ignant azz TC, he fired him. Disgraceful. I would have let Pete coach that last year on his contract and see what happens. I bet any kind of $$ than Pete would have done BETTER than Stump in 2010.

But, we will never know.

Rode by there after I talked to you homie. Saw Rhonda Matthews(Former Miss Southern) out there with my cousin and her husb. :ebrow:

After I left the Green and Gold Clubs meeting, I stopped back by there and chopped it up with a few folks.

Jax,

No need to put my Soror's (and lil sister's Sands) name on blast. You know better. :quiet:

I would have bet my whole salary on that.

IMO Pete got himself fired! If he hadn't issued threats on national TV after get whipped by Grambling. Remember Pete wanted a new contract? He wasn't interested in walking away gracefully. People forget when said he had other job opportunities" after losing the Bayou Classic? Then went and lost to sTu in a awful we. I doubt if he would have done better than Stump considering the APR issues and the fact when Stump took over the majority of Pete's players had academic issues. All of it is water under the bridge now! Just for the record Pete was offered his last year to take a farewell tour but he refused. They also asked him to make staff changes he also refused to do that. Those are the things that got him fired!

Worm only had a partial season. If they lose this year, it will still be Tony Clayton's homeboy fault. By 2014, they will have expectations for worm.

Worm will catch heat if he loses this year just because of all the starters back and the young guys who played the last year or two that are on the field. He has to at least win 7 games and make a run at the West title to appease the realistic Jag fans. Now the unrealistic fans expect a SCG Championship and be 12-0. I am in the middle. I think we have a team that can win 8 or 9 games in a 12 game season and we should contend for the West title. If they play to their potential then it would not shock me if Worm gets to the SCG.

I actually think next season will be more of challenge for him because he will have to break in a new starting Qb for the 2014 season. He still will have a ton of players return though. He has a 2 year deal so the faster he wins, the sooner he gets SU to exercise that 3rd year option. LOL. So Big Worm knows what he has to do. I think he will be fine. I like the coaching staff he has brought in.

You shole is right Bigtyme. I remember getting back to Minnesota and watching the replay and saw where he said that crap about his contract to the reporter after just getting beat down by Grambling. His comments should have been I will worry about that once the season is over. Right now we have one more game against TxSU that I am concerned with. That should have been his comments. But he let the reporter lead him to say if SU didn't offer him an extension after the season, he has other options. I was like damn Pete. You just got your arse kicked on National TV and you are beyotching about a contract extension when you still have one game left and one year left on the current deal. Not to mention you just wasted 4 years of B. Lee and J. Stew not even coming close to the SCG except for the one 8-3 season you had that got you the last extension. SMH.

Nah man. LaFluer wasn't in on that. I can't blame our former AD for Pete's downfall. You have to remember that TC and nem had Doug Williams all but signed and delivered at the BC before Pete could even spell extension. LOL. They were plotting behind folks backs. LaFluer actually figured out what his buddy TC was up to along with some other anti Doug folks and stopped TC's foolishness. But the problem was that half of the folks wanted Heish and then TC's plan was up in smoke, Asberry's had his folks in his corner so that left the window open for LaFluer to bring in his own guy because folks were splintered. Had TC left well enough alone and not try to bring Doug into the mix, maybe we would have had a real coaching search instead of that sideshow with everyone fighting for their guy. Heish of course tore his draws asking for all that money having never been a head coach and then put it out there that SU need to give him 10 coaches or something like that in the The Advocate. I was like dude, if SU is your alma mater and dream job, you say nothing. You know how the politics are in BR so you stay on the high road, get hired and then raise hell later about coaches. And if you don't ask for 190K, you will have enough money to hire a bunch of coaches. Ask Big Worm. LOL. Pete could have had all them coaches too if he had not spent all the money on his coordinators.

Really? When have you known Pete to only win 3 games? :emlaugh: Stump is a great guy but he came on The Mighty Bluff with a 3 win average. He just did what he had always done as a head coach. :emlaugh: I can't fault Brother Stump though, we made that decision. Having said all of that, Pete performance was declining. If you couple the Katrina fiasco with a spoiled fan base that was accustom to winning, Pete was just a victim of bad circumstances. He did so much for the program though.

LOL @ TP. I commented about you and GSUPE in another post in this thread. Beans don't want to listen. It has never been any secret that outside of Comp Sci grads, the ATL has never been a haven for Science and Technology grads. Nothing wrong with that. It is a great business city. Every major city has it niche.

Yeah that might be the only part where me and Bigtyme will disagree. Pete would have won more than 2 or 3 games. Just on the fact that Pete wouldn't have changed his offense and defense and the players would have been used to the system they were already in. I think we would have went 5-6 or 6-5 again. LOL. Stump didn't realize until mid season that we didn't have the personnel to run the ball which wasn't his fault we didn't have the players. Once he turned TBF's cousin loose we played okay but dude kept getting hurt and other things. LOL. But make no mistake, Pete was on the down slide due to the APR challenges and like you said, Katrina did hurt the recruiting base. But I still think him not changing his staff around and bringing in young and upcoming assistants to help may have done him in too. Not to mention they would understand APR. There is a lot of blame to go around. Our AD didn't do Pete no favors either with an inept Athletic Dept. But I do agree with BT that Pete got himself fired. He could have made changes to that staff. Sometimes you just have to make changes to keep new ideas coming in.

Pete is the man. I don't care what nobody say. Look at what the once mighty su has done since his departure. What's that, three wins per season?

apr was all on Pete. They had to fire him.

Thank You, couldn't post earlier. This time, when Pete tried his power move, TC had Doug in his pocket waiting for him. But it wasn't so much that the other folks were splintered, it was a group that just didn't want Doug no matter what with a lot of them being women that said ........... well I aint gonna say what they said, but they were dead set against Doug no matter what, Thats when all them other folks came in the pic. But since Doug played in the NFL, the only way to trumph Doug was to get someone else from the NFL, so here comes Lefluer with his boy Stump to save the day (and himself, because if Doug would have came, Lafluer would have been an instant nobody and nonfactor)

APR wasn't on the coach back then as the schools didn't understand how APR worked yet in terms of loopholes

Yes it was. Pete had a couple of signing classes where only one ore two players were eligible. It was a list posted in our private forum.
