Re: APR

Basketball wise it could be. Basketball will be interesting. Don't count out JSU to be in the mix basketball wise.

TxSU football is not. They are banned for 2 years by the NCAA due to Cole. Nothing to do with APR.

Especially by the end of the year. The folks in Jackson seem to think Brent has the masses "FIRED UP!" A hostile environment in the AAC would be the shot in the arm the program needs.

Re: APR

I look at this as a good thing, the coaches and universities have to take APR seriously, this will force their hands.
This will also kick some of the kids out of school that dont want to go to class or that cant handle the academics.
Don't just kick the kids out of school, kick the coaches and administrators out who can't do the job.
:scared:

btw, this whole APR stuff is gonna get worse. Right now, the minimum 4 year score is 900. Next year, that minimum goes up to 930. Right now, no SWAC school would meet that minimum.

JSU had a nice recruiting class and they are still adding players.

JSU, TxSU, Alcorn, AAMU, PV, and SU. I can see AAMU making a push to with no seniors last year.

Re: APR

LOL. Just glad SU has righted the ship Football and basketball wise. Just got to clean up track. But we all said it would be more to come back then when SU and JSU were banned.

I have no dog in this fight. But we shall see how the SWAC COP vote this time. I can't remember if someone was ineligible for football last year due to APR? TxSU was rules oriented I believe.

Frat..............
JSU learned our lesson the hard way. Ain't going back down that APR hill again. The football team APR was about to take the entire athletic department down.

As for the vote, the Presidents of schools that voted to ban JSU better be the first ones to vote to ban themselves this go around.

JSU is prepared to meet whatever minimum we need to meet. Right now does not matter. Next year, watch our scores. We been planning for this!

Re: APR

Actually, we DID know that AlaState football was headed down the road to APR disaster. We discussed this.
We had been hearing for a while Bama St. was getting kids in school that couldnt get in alot of other schools. Our former coach said, Bama St. must dont look at transcripts lol.

Why is there a need for another vote? The rule has already been put in place.

There is no vote needed. When they voted in 2011 (or was it 2010?) the bylaws were updated to ban all teams declared ineligible by the NCAA for any reason.

Heck even if they had scholars on their team, the high number of transfers coming in and taking the spots of the other players who ended up leaving could have had an effect.

Re: APR

Damn..... will y'all let that shit go? :smh:

That would be a big NO!!!

Remember what I told ya'll when ya'll clowned us relentlessly for weeks?

Sad part is, ya'll had JSU as an example of what could go wrong and ignored it. We told ya'll this day was coming when we took a look at everybodies future score back then. Don't get mad now.

Re: APR

:lol::lol:

stop trying to backdoor your way to the SCG. sheesh! LOL

Come on MH, take responsibility for your own shortcomings.:emlaugh: Right now, backdooring for us should be the least of Bama State's worries.
Based on Bama State's history, you guys could be banned for multiple years.

Re: APR

This year the regular season champ would have been ineligible.

The SWAC screwed it up basketball wise this year. Nothing against TxSU. But if they were ineligible for SWAC Tourney. They should have been ineligible to win the regular season title. Just like the Big Ten did to Ohio State in football and other conferences that make you ineligible for even the regular season title in football or basketball. They should have had the next best team win the regular season so we could keep our NIT auto invite in case the regular season champ got bounced in the SWAC tourney. To me if you ineligible you can't win the division nor the regular season titles period. But that is just me.

Re: APR

There shouldn't be a tournament in that case. Just go with the regular season champ.

Unless the NCAA has a rule on how many teams must participate in the tourney, I disagree. A tournament in Houston with Alcorn, JSU, Southern, PV, TxSo, and Alabama A&M would work just fine. Heck, they probably need to send 6 teams every year anyway given the attendance at the early rounds.
