Now you know you can't believe what SU people say, esp not SUjagtillidie. If he says 8, double that!

Banks said the Jaguars, who lost four seniors from their Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament championship team, will have the full allotment of 13 scholarships this season after being limited because of APR-related penalties in years past.

You were saying?

that wasn't a big, he was a guard. Again, when SU won in 93 they didn't have bigs so its having quality 4s that can rebound like that Joe Martin kid from AAMU a few years back.

There is more than one way to win relating to personnel and size (at least outside of Waller County anyway). :emlaugh:

hoops season was months ago...we've moved along...yall remind of Spivery's brief season and how "great" he was :emlaugh:

Has Spivery gone to the NCAA more times than PV? If so, you all might want to look him up. I understand he is working at a furniture store in BR. Let's face it, he would be an upgrade for you all. :emlaugh:

You were saying?

Thanks.. You just have to double check everything that SU says on this board and everything FAMU says on the MEAC "bored"...and it STILL does not say that SU only had 8 scholarships. Check on that for me. :D

Another one for WAYNE Brent and JSU

West changes mind from Alcorn to JSU, plus Riley’s reaction (Updated)

The intensity surrounding the JSU-Alcorn basketball rivalry looks like it is about to pick up. Keep reading.
Last Wednesday when the NCAA regular signing period began, B.J. West of New Mexico State was listed as one of the Alcorn State basketball signees.

Today, West, a 6-foot-11 center, says instead he will sign with Jackson State.
Here’s what West had to say about the change of heart.

“I felt like the fit was better at Jackson State,” said West. “Jackson State is a different environment than where I am now and it’s closer to home. It has more of a home feel since I am from Cheneyville, Louisiana. I needed a change because I have only one year to play. I have a little brother and sister who I have been away from so it will give me chance to be closer to them as well.”

if that's the case....alcorn should feel like home.....unless he is saying Jackson is similar to baton rouge......which is down the street from his home......i guess....good pick up Jsu

I was thinking the same thing. Alcorn is much closer to that part of LA than JSU. He just didn't want to in Lorman shooting deer in his spare time.

Here is West’s version, when reached late Monday night.
I liked Alcorn because they were on me first. They were closer to home, like 2 hours and some change and Jackson State is three hours and something. Alcorn told me I could play a lot and that was my goal because I really never played a lot here (at New Mexico State). So I was sold on that.”

I started researching and saw Jackson State was a bigger stage for me because it’s in Jackson. I have played at the MBA a couple teams in AAU ball so I know Jackson was big on basketball. Then I saw that a lot of players had signed at Alcorn. With one year left, I don’t have time to battle. I know as long as I do my part, I am going to play. I was talking to them (JSU) and wasn’t really interested because I was so commited to Alcorn. When I finally heard them out, it changed my mind.”

Distance was not that much of a difference.
Sound like he has played a little summer AAU ball in Jackson.

. Good pick up, J-state!

Re: Another one for WAYNE Brent and JSU

As long as he can help us beat Southern, we welcome him!

Thats not hard to do.
But we better stop. You know these weak mods don't come in acting like school marm's until JSU posters respond.

Moving on to another thread and topic.

Honestly, no one wanted this guy. Your new coach may get some good recruits because of his reputation in Mississippi, but this guy won't help you all other than having 5 fouls to give.

Cool.. we can use that.

That's not the one by Zachary . It's the Cheneyville by Alexandra, La. They are spelled differently.

The last time this guy was seen on a basketball court he played in 24 games and his scoring average was 2.5 points a game. His career high rebound number is 7. Yes, I said 7 and 2.5 points per game. So excuse me if I think he is washed up.

I was just about to post this.. the Chaneyville in East Baton Rouge is really the name of a community and (to my knowledge) not listed on any maps as being an incorporated village or town.
