Wait a minute brah!!!!! :emlaugh: JAGS. Not zags mane lololololololol.

SU is showing no semblance of intimidation and have that JAG-SWAG working for them. You can see it. :read: Get it together Jags and KNOW where the shooters are (Pedro whatever his name is :read: ) and keep stockton jr from trying to get to the rim. Also, cease the high-low bull they're trying to exploit w/ their size. :slap:
See what happens when Alums and fans have faith in their team it rubs off on the players. :)

So is looking good, if they settle down a little more, they can beat them. This will be Banks last year there, dude has SU looking and playing great.

Unless someone comes in with 2-3 million he ain't leaving. Although he graduated from NSU, he bleeds blue and gold. His dad and god father went to SU.

Great way to fight SU. You would have thought I was a SU fan & alum by the way I have been fired up about this game. I knew SU matched up well against Gonzaga in order to give them a fight. Respect to SU.

Why didn't your superior knowledge of how to defend a screen properly rub off?

:smh:

This is worse than that silly "tiger power hand on the radio bull" texas southern doesn. :smh:

Just got off the phone with my daughter; she said the watch party in the Union was insane! And she said it was packed in there. She called me during the game and I could barely hear her it was so much cheering in the background!

I'm working OT so I didn't get to watch the game but I was getting updates from her and my ESPN app. The Jags did very well; tied game at halftime and a 6pt deficit to a #1 team.......no bad at all!

The Jags won the conference tournament and made it to an NCAA tournament game. That's 2 achievements; next year could take them further.

Nice work Jags!

I cried for about 30 minutes.

I hope it was because you were proud of your team. The Jags did well; nothing to cry about. They gave Gonzaga a run for their money and made Gonzaga take them seriously.

If Gonzaga never heard of Southern University, they know now and won't forget how they almost lost to them.

Not because of that and we played them 2 years ago. All 5 of their starters played against us. They are the weakest #1 seed this year and of all time.

But I thought SU didn't stand a chance *shrugs*

Great game Jags... if Banks stays at SU, Davis for a few years at TSU, Chico fulfills his potential, JSU gets the RIGHT coach, PV gets right (plus UAPB always competes)... watch out.

Southern's length on the interior really caused Gonzaga problems the whole game, which forced the Zagas to become a jump shooting team. I thought in the second half the Jags didn't play the inside-outside game enough down the stretch. Every time they did, it setup open looks instead of contested shots. But, to be in a game like that against the No. 1 ranked team in the country is a testament to the discipline and execution of Southern.

As I have posted here before, SU is known for playing tough when they are on "the big stage" and have nothing to lose. I have seen the Jags do this in baseball as well. The Jags fought hard today. They played solid basketball and were not afraid to take chances. The moment the Jags tied the game up, they turned into "America's team." To hear and see the crowd acting a fool for a SWAC champion was great! With the SWAC being labled as the worst conferance for D-I basketball, SU proved the point of why a conferance champion must play like a champion. This showing by SU gives the conferance some much needed hope.

The SWAC really needed SU to play well and fight hard today for the sake of the conferance. Those guys played with heart and pride. I read that the coach and players were in tears in the locker room after the loss. There is nothing like seeing a team playing for more than just a win. Mad props to SU basketball on showing the heart of a champion.

So you going to ack like Gonzaga fowards werent throwing pancake blocks. The illegal screens they got away with was the difference in the game.

Yeap, we could become the new Missouri Valley Conference. lol

Let's see if one school can break the 17-year tournament losing streak first before we get ahead of ourselves.

Come on now it was an obvious joke. Also technically UAPB won a few years ago in the play-in game which counts as a tournament win. But having SU, TXSU, and UAPB all as strong contenders could really improve the conference profile.

That's right, UAPB did win the Opening Round game a few years ago. But the conference still has a long way to go. 12-94 was the record this year against OCC teams compared to 78-46 for the Missouri Valley, for example. Why is the conference playing a dozen games against the SEC? That might help the SOS, but that seems like way too many to me.

Of course it does, but having 3-4 solid teams is a good start. Those other conferences had to start somewhere.

SU played real good. No doubt, but they got killed by that dude with the mullet. It was like watching the Partrich family playing against SU. But the jags rep real good. Congrats.
