Serena does the Crip Walk

Then I guess that is how "WE" were raised. Being from the area, I knew about crip walking before it became cool. And what she was doing isn't even close to what the original crip walk was. The only thing most of you THINK you know is "CRIP". If the dance was called anything else...we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I don't condone violence. I'm sure Serena doesn't condone gang violence. It's a freakin dance gott dammit.

First it was Gabby's hair...now this bullshit. :shame:

SADDDDDD!!!!

Its a dance.
I'm sure Serena was thinking more about the after-parties in London more than busting drive by caps on spectators.

Black people will make controversy out of anything.
She bust a dance move.............. No more or less than I see people do everyday. White NERDs can do that dance now. It is damm near "generic" as far as it being a "crip thang" these days.

As far as this being held at WIMBLEDON, big deal. THIS WAS THE OLYMPICS..........NOT WIMBLEDON. No all white uniforms, fans were allowed to make noise and cheer, and the players are allowed to let emotions all hang out. There are no invites to the All-England Club for these Olympic medal winners. :smh:

I didn't find anything wrong with it. Some folks did.(big debate/argument at a get together yesterday) I was more upset about them letting the flag fall during the playing of the anthem when she got her medal. She handled that like a champ too.

Yep........... I was wondering why the crowd got loud and Serena and the other 2 was laughing on the podium. I say the British did that on purpose. :goof:

Keep thinking that.. lol.

what I wrote is my reality...I mean, what's the point of having a gang that doesn't do anything? :xeye: No head bashing, home breakins, no drivebys...no throwing up symbols...no yelling out Crip for Life or something...a fight every now and then... that's broken up pretty quickly...so, they just want to "claim" gang affiliation to a gang that isn't an actual gang? I'm not getting it...

Guess yall forgot about this

Serena should be tarred and feathered, her gold medal taken, and sent through blood territory wearing all blue with "Fvck all Bloods" written on both sides of her clothing. :smh:

If they sent her through there like that, she wouldn't get jumped on. She'd get 'humped on'. You'd think Union Pacific had laid new track, the 'train' they run on her....

WestCoastProductions will market/sell the DVD...

its a west coast dance... I could pull up a youtube clip now with BLOODS doing the C walk. This dance doesnt glorify the Crip lifestyle..... this is a Cali thing.

Exactly, because I know we did that dance in the band.

Well I know one thing....if my baby girl spends the majority of her life being the best in the world at what she does, then takes the center stage and wins yet another Gold Medal after destroying her opponent, I'm gonna say to her "baby you earned the right to dance and do whatever you want to do"

....I just love me some Serena, Gabby...any other Sista out there like them that are just living a golden life, doing their own thing....

I've never seen a Blood, Crip, Gangster Disciple or any other known gang member...and neither has the kids around here...just don't have the gangs in the country. BUT I have seen this dance...didn't know the name until yesterday. It had no significance for me before...still doesn't now.

You've seen them, just didn't know it. They're here in Vidalia and Natchez.

People associate the dance with the gang so they say she's glorifying the gang. But in my search of the dance, (I'm behind a firewall at work and cant view You Tube videos), I had to find other videos and one video was from the UK where a white, UK female was showing step by step how to do the Crip walk, so apparently they don't see it glorifying a gang. So why does America?

The same way america see jazz as coming out of the bordellos of New Orleans, St Louis, and Chicago where they were tipping around, while the Europeans look at black culture with an extreme curiosity and wonder and look deeply into the social reasons behind it. The Europeans did it with jazz and currently with rap music

***** please. Had this been someone white doing a gang dance you'd have 30 posts in this topic already. It's not just a dance, it was a dance that was created by crips to represent gang banging and she's from Compton so she knows exactly what it represents. LOL @ how quick people are to look over CERTAIN things.

Exactly!!

Well...not the white part but you are correct with the comment about how folks quick to look over certain things.

No matter how y'all try to color that shyt...it's a gang dance. Doesn't matter if the Queen of England is doing the dance now, in America and Black America it's named after a gang that's known for killing and destroying black neighborhoods.

Is it a big deal?! Well...yeah it is considering she chose to do this ghetto ass dance during the Olympics. She could have done the Dougie and there would be no issue...but she chose to do a ghetto ass gang dance and gave the people another reason to criticize her. I'm sure she doesn't care but y'all need to quit it trying to make this shyt out to be the Hokey Pokey or some innocent dance. :emlaugh:

Serena told all the world critics that she basically don't GAS about what they think about her dancing on center court. I wish more people in the spotlight, THAT HAVE LEGIT TALENT, would be real and tell people to kiss their azz more often.
