Re: NCAA Announces Penalties!!!

not a good example, but.....
If they cover up the crime, then they will be arrested too.

actually, i think it's a good example. If I am doing something illegal in my house and my wife doen't know about it, the govt can seize my home. But bruh, these people are reaching so far now that it ain't even funny. That example that JR was bad that. How is fuggin a lady or a student illegal. Not even on the same level as dozens of boys being molested and the higher-ups covering it up. This was almost on the level of human trafficing and they wanna give an example of a coach cheating on his wife.

Re: NCAA Announces Penalties!!!

What many folks don't recognized about child sexual abuse is that it's kept a "secret" and usually only a few people know about the incidents, not dozens and dozens of folks.

Folks who are clamouring for all of Penn State to be prosecuted are saying that thousands of folks knew about this one man molesting dozens of children and not one of the many hundreds of thousands bothered to report it to chlld protective services? Yeah, right.....LOL!!
Naw Jayrob, I said the kids not the victims. The kids that worked so hard to accomplish goals on the field and in the classrooms. Worked so hard to establish a life/home away from home, being good students and athletes off the field, and now is being told that they have two options. Either transfer and leave the life that they finally got adjusted to, the friends they made or stay and suffer the wrath and punishment of the NCAA in which they had no parts of what Jerry did.

The victims will be vindicated and looked out for, but the kids are the ones hanging. Maybe there are other victims in this mess besides the one Jerry messed with.

Dude please, you know exactly what I meant but are just playing dumb. We all know that small businesses are effected, fans are effected, innocent people are effected, Penn State never committed any sports violations, but all of those people should suffer along with the guilty Sandusky, Paterno, AD and President?
These people knew NOTHING about the crimes.

JayRob, that's how the NCAA works even outside of this case. I am really confused about what your point is. The NCAA didn't do anything differently in this case about how the hurt the "innocent". The NCAA gives penalties to PROGRAMS. If you are affected by it, then you are affected by it. It has always been that way.

Why do they have to leave. If they love Penn State, they can ALL stay. They can band together and try to HELP the school. Are they gonna win the BCS championship anyway? No. They should set some team goals just like JSU did last when we could not go to Bham. They can STILL kick azz all over the country. If they choose to tuck their tail and run, they didn't deserve to be in a Penn State uniform to begin with. I am sure that Penn State won't have any trouble filling their roster with kids who have love for Penn State. Even their coach said that he accepted the job during this rough time because of his LOVE for the school. If there is any time for those who claim to love Penn State so much to stand up, it's NOW!

here you go

NCAA Constitution References

2.1 Scope of Responsibility.

The institution's responsibility for the conduct of its intercollegiate athletics program includes responsibility for the actions of its staff members and for the actions of any other individual or organization engaged in activities promoting the athletics interests of the institution.

2.4 The Principle of Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct.

For intercollegiate athletics to promote the character development of participants, to enhance the integrity of higher education and to promote civility in society, student-athletes, coaches, and all others associated with these athletics programs and events should adhere to such fundamental values as respect, fairness, civility, honesty and responsibility. These values should be manifest not only in athletics participation, but also in the broad spectrum of activities affecting the athletics program. It is the responsibility of each institution to:

(a) Establish policies for sportsmanship and ethical conduct in intercollegiate athletics consistent with the educational mission and goals of the institution; and

(b) Educate, on a continuing basis, all constituencies about the policies in this article.

These dudes been pulling ethics out all this time and summarily ignored JayRob's assertion that it applied to sports. They somehow managed to overlook the wording that clearly says that it applies to activities that further athletic activities/interests.
