BTW, Regional HBCUs like Howard and Hampton should be flying up there trying to somewhat recruit some of those players like those schools did SMU.

Players can transfer anywhere without sitting out..... they more than likely are headed to other BCS schools. How would they benefit going to a lower level school who isnt going to a bowl game anyway?

Not.
They could have taken all of their scholarships, fined them $600M, with 10 years of probation and it would not have been worse than the death penalty.
SMU still hasn't gotten over the death penalty.
Teams like USC, Miami and Alabama were given pretty stiff scholarship redutions, and came right back to win or be in contention for National Championships.
I won't even get into the embarrassment, and stigma the Death Peanalty would have caused.
Trust me, this ain't even close to being a death penalty.

I disagree. Teams like Bama, USC were given those penalties for recruiting violations and such. The Penn State scandal is much worse. On every level. Even after the penalties are served and paid, the stigma will linger on for YEARS. I honestly don't think they will rebound (back to the level it used to be) in MANY, MANY years. (if ever)

I'm a big proponent of you don't know if you don't try. Hampton and Howard should be putting their names in the hat RIGHT NOW because we already know Saban and Company are going to go fishing at Penn State.
and by going off on how Spurrier acted during SEC Media Days last week...He could very well break Robinson's record. Spurrier said he felt "no pressure" so he may be around a while.

That I agree with... Plus you CAN'T recruit those players... If they contact you, you can have dealings with them but you cannot initiate the contact... Gotta know your NCAA rules...

DIZZZZZZZZAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! The 4 year postseason ban will slightly hurt but their program sells out their home stadium so they'll still get millions of revenue $$$$$ from games, <b>donations</b> :read:, et al. The win vacating deal is HUGE.
Congrats to Coach Robinson for getting his all-time winningest record back, for what it's worth.

If the NCAA did an "FBI type" investigation on all of the "great" coaches.... we would have none. Even at the HBCU level... if they did an investigation of John Merritt.... Tenn State feelings would be hurt. EVERYBODY now knows what was going on at Tenn State.

If he breaks it I don't have a problem with that. But if he breaks it cheating, lying and underhandedly, he IMHO just like Paterno should have to give it back.
