Even worse than that, the NCAA can go snooping into ANY program having nothing to do with sports. Folks just do't realize what's happened today.

NFL players fell into this same problem by giving one entity sole power and authority to make up rules as they go along and be the judge, jury and executioner. NFL players had no idea what they were giving Goodell just as Penn State's President doesn't realize the power and authority he's giving Emmert and the NCAA, then again MAYBE HE DOES, since he is close friends with Emmert.

We can argue until we are blue in the face, but it really seems like your problem is with the NCAA being involved in such matters. If that the case, I'll advise you to write the NCAA and express your concerns to them just like you have done on this board.

Robber, ole buddy ole pal, the by-laws clearly state that this is NCAA jurisdiction. As a lawyer, you mean to tell me that the ethics laws would not apply here? Certainly you are not saying that. Those by-laws were already in place. They just never had a reason to use them before now.

When have you ever heard of some ethics clauses standing up in a contract lawsuit??? Schools, teams always claim them clauses when firing a coach and always wind up paying them the money. So, to answer your question, no I don't think those ethics clauses don't apply. That's exactly what I'm saying. And if you think this is the first situation to ever try those clauses, with all that has gone on in the history of the NCAA, then you're mistaken.

How many time have you heard Eddie Robinsons name come up?
Bobby Bowden has been on 24/7 since this happened being introduced as the ALL TIME MAJOR COLLEGE WINNING COACH. They have side stepped that issue of Eddie all together.

Right, cause they (FBS) looks down on us (FCS) like we look down on D2. So why would our (FCS) wins count anymore than that coach in D2?

It has everything to do with protecting a pedophile. Joe Paterno and the administration were involved with protecting the pedophile, that why the NCAA is involved and not over reaching. I would not punished the current program that way that they did, but none of us should be surprised. They have always done that and its sad for the existing players.

Indiviudal schools have the right not to belong to the NCAA. When they do, they agree to all of the rules and regulations. The member schools are the NCAA and have the right to make changes to the rules and regulations.

But that is a criminal act. I know you say, "but Joe still had him in the sidelines." But what if jerry was a murderer? Would the NCAA stepped in then? What about a bank robber? A wife beater? Would the NCAA punish them then? Let's see what happens to NCCU for keeping Frazier on the sidelines since now he is a abuser of women. Will the NCAA step in and punish them?

No it didn't. Instead of throwing up childish smileys, post where it had anything to do with sports related. The pedophile is in jail for life; the AD is under investigation; the President is under investigation and Paterno is DEAD. Who else is part of the guilty party that's not being prosecuted?
This is why we follow the systems already in place as it relates to child sexual abuse.

The mom and pop businesses had nothing to do with Sandusky's crimes, so why are they being punished?

So just because they've always done it this way, the NCAA is the only entity that has the right to punish the innocent and not the guilty? How is that justice?
The pedophile, AD and former President are all under indictment, while Paterno's dead. Who else is there to blame?

The NCAA broke it's own bylaws and procedures. Do you agree with that. That's just like law enforcement changing it's rules to arrest you without giving you due process, but if you request due process, they threaten you with even MORE sanctions and charges. How is that justice and fairness?

With this ruling they have opened the pandora's box to do whatever they want. Just wait until one of our schools has some issues. Some coach screws some of the young gals on campus and ones hollers abuse or she pregnant and then a whole bunch of them start opening their mouths. We gone get hammered. Because you know no one is going to snitch in our administrations about normal sex that is going on between people in power and the students. But now, you better or else the NCAA might come a knocking if one our coaches is fugging with them gals and nobody tells on him. I mean will Arkansas be under investigation for Petrino giving that gal a job just to be able to fugg her when he wanted? You know some folks knew he was hitting that. Does Louisville have to get investigated for that deal with Pitino where he was fugging that woman and then had his assistant coach take her crazy arse off his hands by marrying her only to try to blackmail Pitino later? All Pitino got was a slap on the wrist from Louisville. WIth this ruling by the NCAA. Would they look at Louisville and say that they condone that kind of act from their basketball coach?

Just as the Crampton Bowl has mom and pop vendors and businesses who DEPEND on gameday revenue, so does Penn State.
They're being effected indirectly whether we want to acknowledge this or not, and they had nothing to do with criminals already under investigation.

The folks who covered it up were reps of Penn State. They covered it up for the benefit of Penn State. All up to the highest levels at Penn State. Covered up the raping of kids by their own coach, in their own football facilities, all so their football team could continue on. AFTER finding out, Penn State did nothing, even allowed the rapist to keep an office on campus and to keep using their facilities to rape and abuse even more kids. I will never understand how/why people don't think the NCAA should punish Penn State.

but then again, just like Paterno and the cover up crowd wanted Penn State to just continue on as if nothing had happened, I guess some of yall think the same too.

ummm Penn State didn't receive the death penalty. They will still have games.

but then again, maybe you think its the NCAA's job to ensure Penn State has a winning team, so surrounding mom and pop businesses can prosper on game day.

But these people don't see that JR. All they see is that Penn St got hammered and Eddie Rob got his title back and now ALL is right in the world.

These guys are being prosecuted. So if you commit a crime in your house, are you saying that law enforcement should arrest the entire occupants of that house when they had nothing to do with your crimes?

Dude please, you know exactly what I meant but are just playing dumb. We all know that small businesses are effected, fans are effected, innocent people are effected, Penn State never committed any sports violations, but all of those people should suffer along with the guilty Sandusky, Paterno, AD and President?
These people knew NOTHING about the crimes.

What many folks don't recognized about child sexual abuse is that it's kept a "secret" and usually only a few people know about the incidents, not dozens and dozens of folks.

Folks who are clamouring for all of Penn State to be prosecuted are saying that thousands of folks knew about this one man molesting dozens of children and not one of the many hundreds of thousands bothered to report it to chlld protective services? Yeah, right.....LOL!!
