The city of Jackson isn't making 3 million off this game. That figure is the economic impact, how much is being spent at hotels, etc. A 3 million dollar economic impact isn't enough to justify the amount of money Brown is talking. To put that number in perspective, the economic impact for the Southern Heritage Classic to the city of Memphis is around 16 million.
I would love to have Chris Brown at JSU. He seems to be strictly about business.
I wouldn't. He aiight but I don't think he is at the level of what we need at JSU yet. He seems to make some necessary hard decisions but I have not heard of any improvements of money/partnerships being brought to Alcorn since his arrival. He is not ready to lead a research level school.
Jsu doesn't travel well. Alcorn will be able to handle that crowd. Please don't compare the Bayou Classic to the Soul Bowl. We have been in a totally different class from you all for years.
:lmao:
Because the Superdome is a neutral site and a much bigger venue than Mumford or Memorial. I don't think there's a stadium in the State of Mississippi that can accomodate as many people as the Superdome.
Lets do the math:
Superdome
Capacity 80,000
Average ticket price $25.00
Revenue $2,000,000.00
Dome rental cost $(250,000.00)
Profit $1,750,000.00
Split between both schools $875,000.00
Memorial
Capacity 50,000
Average ticket price $25.00
Revenue $1,250,000.00
Profit $1,250,000.00
Split between both schools $625,000.00
Any business conscious person would know the Dome would make way more sense.
Jsu doesn't travel well. Alcorn will be able to handle that crowd. Please don't compare the Bayou Classic to the Soul Bowl. We have been in a totally different class from you all for years.
If that's so, why is one school consistently in the FCS top five every year in attendance? That one school shole ain't Southern. LOL!!
Hey JROCK,
I think jayrob is right. Since Mr. Charlie owns their stadium, all their home games are like away games to them.
I'm sure Alcorn Prez saw these numbers I posted in another thread and realized they were being cheated out of some money. And those numbers doesn't include concession, parking, vendors, and the overall economic impact (hotels, restaurant, shopping, etc.) in Jackson, MS. With the game being at Alcorn that might justify having a McDonald's, Taco Bell, Popeyes, Burger King, and other restaurants in Lorman, MS.
Now lets see how they came up with that $500,000 minimum:
Memorial(jsu-Alcorn)
Game Attendance 40,000
Average ticket price $25.00
Revenue $1,000,000.00
Profit $1,000,000.00
Split between both schools $500,000.00
I think JSU has been cheating someone.

Dude, nobody needs to look at tspnsports to come up with simple math numbers.
And when was the last time the BC even came near 80,000? You just making up stuff.
Let Alcorn have their home game and see how expensive it's going to be and how chaotic it will be.
Jackson's more than use to large numbers.
Either the news hasn't gotten to you or you're just voluntarily ignorant of the fact that JSU owns Memorial. It'll be our choice to turn it over to the state if we choose to, but we sure don't have to pay thousands for the upkeep like other schools.
As far as road games, tell me how to calculate road attendance numbers. LOL!!
What I do know is we constantly sellout SU, Grambling's attendance is above average when JSU comes to town, as does Bama State's. We average 50,000 in Memphis on a yearly basis, we average 40,000 during the Alcorn game.
Anytime we have a classic game on the road, our numbers are usually 45,000 plus.
Now again, tell me how to calculate road numbers.

Revenue $1,000,000.00
Profit $1,000,000.00
Split between both schools $500,000.00

Where did u get this dumb isht from?
Good for you Alcorn!.. Memphis makes around $16 million from the SHC. If would TSU and JSU I would ask for $2 million each.![]()
Alcorn aint worth half of that...good try tho!

Exactly... also the SHC has sponsors and they still don't give us $500K.
They must be worth a hellva lot.. Yall's phuggas still whining...Somebody put a tittie in their mouths...
If you go back and read my previous post carefully, you'll noticed that I said Superdome capacity. Nothing was said about previous Bayou Classic attendance. The highest attended Bayou Classic was between76,000 to 77,000, but I'm sure your ignorant ass knew that.
Highest attended BC:
1974 - 76,753
Trying to understand jSU's logic would make anyone just say, what the fugg are they teaching them at that school.
It's Alcorn's home game and no matters which school has the most in-attendance, Alcorn should make the most money for its home game. Not only Alcorn should demand their share of the wealth, but they should also require that the endzones be re-painted purple and gold with Alcorn Braves stamped all over it when it's their home game.
