HBCUs: The Backup Plan for D1 Knuckleheads

The reason we are second choices is because even our Alumni don't send their kids to HBCUs!! Most first year HBCU grads send their kids to PWC's. The big state PWC is where most wanted to go, and they think lil Sally and Billy will get a better opportunity. I wish black folks would stop telling this lie to themselves and be truthful. Blacks feels as though white folks give them a better opportunity in life and being around them will some how make them culturally advanced. We have yet to understand the real basis for culture and diversity starts at home. The fruit don't fall to far from the tree. If your genes are bad genes, well your chlid got them too!!!!

You shole is right Cee...you shole is right

, please identify if you played a sport at a SWAC institution and when. Let's add some credibility to your argument.

Dun Dun Dun That would cut out about 75% of things said on this page. If you a parent and you read a message board for elimination of schools for your kids you a dumb ass, If a coach tells you to come check a message board to hear about another college he a dumb ass. The End

I agree! It is easy for all commentators to judge others. No one is clean by any means. I hate to see these guys get in trouble then find out that the grass is not greener on the other side. At the same time WE AS HBCU ALUMS need to talk up our schools instead of talking down our schools. Some of you all on here have star studded athletes and refuse to send your child to an HBCU to make your school and programs better, yet you talk about every decision that the schools make that you don't like or support. Some of you coach and will steer your athletes to PWCs. Now the big picture to these troubled athletes is that these children can easily be yours and also could have been you!

you shole is right AM
YOu shole is right

That Hamilton kid wasnt that good and should not have been drafted. I watched him as much as I could last year and didnt see anything outstanding about him. JSU has a good tackle that shit him down. He wasnt a big deal when he played BCU, but its obvious he wasnt a factor in that game either. IF this thread is about Babying folks, lets stop babying Hamilton...he wasnt that good. He was the only decent player on a bad team

Never said they eliminated the school. Just said they were told to come here and read. And what does playing the sport in college have to do with anything.

I agree, but I dont think Hamilton played against BCU though.

As stated if a parent comes on this board and that determines if there child could go to any school in the SWAC we never ever ever ever had a chance in the first place. You think a coach from ULL, Southeastern, La Tech are like go on SWACpage. You giving this site way to much credit.

The reason I say about playing college sports you have a so many people on this site who never stepped foot in the Athletic Dept while they were in college so they have no clue the inner working of the dept. But they have left all of sudden its If the Dept did this we would be champions as stated if you havent been in the dept 90% of the time you have no clue whats so eve. Thats like a dude on the football team saying " The Juke shouldn't march 116 kids how the hell would he really know. Not saying a person cant know sports but with what people deal with in these Depts most people on the outside have no clue and thats when get the most used statement on here " My sources"

There are some folks on this board that are very very active in their athletic departments  .

I agree, but I dont think Hamilton played against BCU though.

If memory serves correct, he had 2 sacks and 2.5 TFL. But, he sure wasn't a factor--------> :retard:

:smh: :shame:

Is there a TSPN II so that real sports people who played the game, have comprehension of the game lol, and know fault(s) when they see the game can possibly go and converse intelligently? Damn!!!!! :shame:

So in a game where bcu could have easily scored 80 points you wanna bring up his measly sacks ? See that's the problem, all we go by is HE HAD 23 SACKS THIS SEASON. Big deal....the rest of the team is horrible. When did he get those sacks...crunch time or garbage time w He may have 100 sacks but I don't think he was a top 10 defensive player in the SWAC

You know what CD I had a great response to this BS up^^^yonder but decided that it would be totally wasted on you...

You shole is right Cee...you shole is right

Lastly, regarding the comprehension issue SUJF, you're dealing w/ a plethora of SWAC grads who prolly took advantage of that open enrollment bullshit lol so don't expect a decently intelligible conversation from many. I certainly don't :emlaugh:. Some are great... And then you have the "others" that are granted internet access. Wish they'd license www access lol.

Bingo...I am :dead:...Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross...P88 and I agree...see the first two statements above!

Well boo, whether yall like or not, I tell the truth. We can use TSPN as an example. Out of the last 10 years on this page alone, if you take 50 parents who's kids have been to college or currently enrolled in a college, only 7-10 of those have been at a HBCU. Now if we expand that to the general population those numbers increase dramatically.

The team didn't get drafted or an invite to play for the cowboys lol. It was based upon individual merit.

I no understand. :smh:

Damm...........

Gone for 6 days and the first thread I read on my return was 6 pages of wasted space. :lmao:

Well, he's right. College athletics, even at the HBCU level, is a business. Never get that twisted.

So true... I've known of kids who lost scholarships for much less than this at our HBCU's. We once had a kid lose a scholarship over kicking a motorcycle...and to my knowledge that was a first offense. It happens and not just recently ... when a coach wants you gone, even the minor infraction will give them justification. On the other hand, I've seen guys given a "second chance...many times over" at a coach's discretion!

Funny thing is...he was simply there and didn't actually kick the bike...:emlaugh:

Are y'all still arguing about this crap? On the whole HBCU and lower level Division kids (i.e. FCS and lower) don't get drafted, period. It doesn't matter whether the Southland had 1 or the SWAC had 1 .... hell, individual schools are trumping that so while you are sitting here going back and forth, how's about improving your individual program with your children, your dollars, and talking up your school first!

(and this is not a dig at DCG .... she mentioned that she told SWAC coaches about her son, but you can't make a kid go where he doesn't feel wanted.)

Good post. DCG did her job as a parent. I am sure her kid was exposed to HBCUs and told all about the benefits of a HBCU education. But at the end of the day, she and her son made the decision that was best for him. I am sure he will become another educated black man in society. You can't get mad at that no matter where a kid goes to school as long as they handle their business in the classroom.

You make another good point about the draft. The FBS level schools have been dominating the draft more and more each year. FCS and below have had a hard time getting kids to the NFL via the draft.

Out of 253 players taken in the 2012 NFL Draft, only 15 were taken from non-FBS schools.
