Paterno's role in covering up Sandusky's child molestations grows as evidence leaks

Re: Paterno's role in covering up Sandusky's child molestations grows as evidence lea

Everyone affiliated with Penn St. athletics did not hide it so why punish all? They suspended the entire band because there was something deeply rooted in the structure. So you would suspend the entire athletic department?

I agree. Like everyone else. I am angry these victims were totally written off to protect that POS Sandusky. But I can't blame Penn State football program for this. This was not the football culture. This was coward adults trying to protect someone who used to be affliated with the football program. IMO, these dumb arses could have actually made Joe Pa look like a hero if they had just did the right thing and told the police and said it was Joe Pa who came to them with this. Joe Pa fired Sandusky in 99 for a reason. Dude was not even that old then. I remember being shocked that he stepped down as the DC. But most just wrote it off as him being tired of waiting on Joe Pa to retire. Now we know the truth. Joe found out his arse was a pedophile in the late 90s and let him go. I kind of think like Jag89 on this. I think Sandusky had something on people bigger than Joe Pa in that area. Because it was no reason why they couldn't have thrown him under the bus and ran over his pedophile arse. I certainly believe the rumors that Sandusky was setting them boys out to other power men in that region or state that may even have went to bat for Joe to stay at Penn State when that Board was trying to rid themselves of him. I think there is more to it, outside of the football program. But that is just me.

Re: Paterno's role in covering up Sandusky's child molestations grows as evidence lea

The notion that Penn State football and its coach was some sort of deity that can't be touched is the reason why the football operations should be suspended because it enabled Jerry Sandusky to prey on innocent children and his crimes be covered up by school officials. We all saw how students rioted on campus the day Paterno was fired and all the people camped out on his lawn every day shortly thereafter. Penn State football embodies that school and community.

Sure, Penn State will have to pay out the rear financially for a long time, but the football team won't be punished nearly as much. The Nittany Lions had the third ranked recruiting class in the B1G this past offseason. And once the games start, folks will be the same football zombies they were before all this Sandusky stuff went down.

I disagree. Suspending the football program aint going to stop isht like this. This was a crime. Not NCAA rules being broken. People were protecting their arses more so than a football program. If they had told when they should have they wouldn't have destroyed the football program. Only Sandusky. Actually folks would have been like damn, Joe Pa is so honest he made sure he turned in his friend and longtime assistant. Nah Kendrick. This is deeper than Penn State football. Hell the Penn State Board was trying to get rid of Joe Pa during that time when all this first happened. Penn State football aint the deity. It was Joe Pa that was revered. Well he is dead now. Penn State could barely win the Big 10 when he was living. LOL. That's why the Penn State Board wanted him gone. Somebody kept blocking that isht. I would not be shocked if knowledge of this Sandusky stuff was pivotal in keeping him around because Joe Pa could blow the lid on them if they ever tried to fire him. And McQuery arse is a coward in epic proportion. He used him seeing Sandusky and that kid in the shower as leverage to stay on staff. This was some individual isht. Because Penn State football certainly has not benefited from them keeping Joe Pa around. If anything, he held the program back in my opinion from not retiring years ago.

Re: Paterno's role in covering up Sandusky's child molestations grows as evidence lea

CNN had the emails between the PennState higher ups. Their first inclination was to cover the story and protect the school. Why they didn't get angry and fire him right away is the question at hand. There was something going on at PennState that has kept that bastard out of jail all these years. I wish Sandusky would have gotten on the stand and dropped a dime on everyone involved.

There is a reason he is just now going to jail after living through his miserable life. Its also no coincidence that this news came out AFTER EddieRobinsons record was broken. This thing stinks all the way to the top. And like Zimmerman said "they always get away."

Comparing the Penn State's incident to the FAMU's incident might not be a good comparison, but the media damn sure took the FAMU hazing incident and painted a broad brush of hazing over every HBCU band program. Why the same can't be done to PWC football programs, especially those programs with big donors? With all the monies those programs receive, I'm sure there are some major cover-ups to keep the money flowing.

Just totally different issue. Hazing has been a culture for a lot of HBCU band programs for a long time and we have seen it happened with Fraternities and Sororities as well. FAMU case just opened up the box for more scrutiny of HBCU bands. I do agree that there are scandals covered up at these PWCs. Maybe not to this type of level were a pedophile is allowed to do what Sandusky did. But I am sure some other unethical or maybe illegal or immoral stuff has been swept under the rug. But hell that is this country. It aint just a big PWC with money thing. LOL. This what happens with a lot of power and rich in this country. It happens everyday unfortunately. But when the media gets hold of it. It is on and popping. Because bad news sells or gets high ratings. They don't care who they destroy or make look bad. Aint like the media care about Penn State. They are going all in on them just like they did FAMU and if they find something on another PWC like the Penn State case, they will be in on them too. The media now a days are much bolder than they used to be. They used to be afraid of the rich and powerful. Somebody gone report it if they got the information. Everyone wants to be the one who got the scoop.

Well, a Penn State grad, who is in her mid-20s, blew the top off this story with her diligent reporting. She is partly responsible for all the news coverage we've seen so far. Heck, she become the youngest Pulitzer Prize winner for the in-depth steadfast reporting on this scandal.

In that case, the Sandusky scandal should have opened the flood gates for investigative reporting at big-time college football programs concerning cover-ups and corruption.

Be careful what you ask for. You know it will trickle down to us. I don't care what those PWCs cover up. Corporate America covers up stuff every day. Since I have ties to the government. I will refrain from any comments there. LOL.

Most of their scandals or cover ups probably involve mostly stuff like Rick Pitino and Bobby Petrino style stuff where the extra marital affairs and such or somebody getting hired without really being qualified. Hell we see that everywhere. Any NCAA violations for sports will always leak sooner or later because as soon as one of those disgruntled former players feel like they got pimped. They will be on TV spilling their guts. Sandusky's case is how the world is. Every government and every corporation and people in general will cover something up if it means they will lose everything. Nothing new with that.

He wasn't working there at the time. I think they had already force him to "retire".

Re: Paterno's role in covering up Sandusky's child molestations grows as evidence lea

This is only the tip of the iceberg. We just had our board meeting with the Alumni Association and there is already a super aggressive push to encourage additional (monthly) giving in lieu of the pending civil lawsuits! :shame: This will easily get into the 8-9 figures.

Some heads will definitely roll. There are too many people that can be easily implicated that knew the deal but didn't say a word because it was Penn State football and Joe Paterno. And for those of you who are not from the Happy Valley area and don't understand the culture, Penn State football is like Jesus and Joe Paterno was like God! :shame: That's the only way I can describe their love and passion for football here.

Don't expect a blanket to be thrown over the naked truth any time soon. For the first time in my life, it "appears" pink toes will finally get to the core truth/problem of a situation.

Well, I guess you are right. We should keep quiet since stuff like this can come back and bite us in the butt. But if you follow the money, no telling what you'll find and HBCUs have nowhere near the money as others do.

Oh I agree. No doubt if you follow any questionable money trail you will find a lot of wrongdoings. Now I hope no HBCU would be involved in covering up a pedophile. That is just sick to me. I imagine the worse thing we got going on is stealing and people bed hopping. LOL. What I do think we happen is these PWCs will watch folks more carefully when it comes to children. This will not be the last time we hear about something like this. Look how fast Syracuse situation came out after Sandusky.

OH BTW

The prosecuter over the earlier Sandusky case is missing and presumed dead.
Not a coincidence

They protected Sandusky for the greater good of Penn State while sacrificing a child's well being....:shame: :smh:

I keep telling folks it is bigger than Penn State. Definitely bigger than Penn State football. It wasn't Joe Pa or the team they were protecting. There were more pedophiles I believe. Sandusky was setting them boys out to some rich and powerful and if it was found out who then it may have been worse. Hell, Sandusky in the long run was dealing with folks more powerful than Joe Pa. Joe Pa had nothing to lose turning in Sandusky if that's all it was. Neither did those Penn State administrators. Something spooked them not to go forward with this. Somebody much bigger and powerful must have been involved. I certainly believe that. Normally I don't get into the conspiracy theories unless governments are involved. But this one here wreaks of it. Joe Pa is dead so they can pile on all the dirt on him and make it look like it was him masterminding the cover up.

Yeah. I've read an article about the DA disappearance back in the 90s as soon as the news of this came out. Something isn't right with that picture.

I posted this article on the smack board to mess with Mak, but this article could shine a little more light on your conspiracy theory.

Penn State Football Recruits Using Scandal As ‘Motivation’:xeye:

This seems hard to believe, but the child sexual abuse scandal at Penn State involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky is apparently giving Nittany Lions football recruits “motivationâ€.

“We’re building our own relationships, and nothing is going to get in the way of our goals,†Fork Union (Va.) quarterback Christian Hackenberg told The Patriot News. “I really don’t have any comment on that whole situation. That’s the same for a lot of us. That wasn’t us in any shape or form. That was the last staff. And, to be honest, we’re sort of using it as motivation.â€
