Black pastors bash NAACP for endorsing gay marriage

The Coalition of African American Pastors announced Tuesday that it does not agree with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s decision to endorse the legalization of same-sex marriage.

CAAP launched a petition last week to oppose broadening the legal definition of marriage.

The coalition includes leaders of black churches and veteran civil rights leaders who marched with Martin Luther King Jr.

The NAACP voted to endorse same-sex marriage Saturday, and NAACP President Benjamin Jealous publicly endorsed gay marriage Monday.

How about marriage in Deuteronomy 22:28-29. "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives”.
What wrong with this marriage? And it says he can NEVER divorce her?! Wow!! I'm at a loss for words on this one.

Marriage should be about two grown folks deciding to come together in marriage out of genuine love.
What right have folks to deny them this right based on a book that advocates that a raped woman has to marry her rapist?

And believe it or not, some folks try and actually justify such an evil based on economics and because it's in the bible?! Now that's the height of evil and has total disregard for the woman's right.

I'd rather have two folks marry each other who actually "love" each other than a rapist being rewarded with marrying the woman or girl he just raped.
I wonder why ministers and fundamentalists refuse to talk about this in the pulpit. Instead, they'd rather invade the privacy of innocent folks who want nothing more than to love each other while minding their own business, while raping no one.

More biblical marriage attrocities:

1) Murder, rape, and pillage at Jabesh-gilead (Judges 21:10-24 NLT)

So they sent twelve thousand warriors to Jabesh-gilead with orders to kill everyone there, including women and children. "This is what you are to do," they said. "Completely destroy all the males and every woman who is not a virgin." Among the residents of Jabesh-gilead they found four hundred young virgins who had never slept with a man, and they brought them to the camp at Shiloh in the land of Canaan.

The Israelite assembly sent a peace delegation to the little remnant of Benjamin who were living at the rock of Rimmon. Then the men of Benjamin returned to their homes, and the four hundred women of Jabesh-gilead who were spared were given to them as wives. But there were not enough women for all of them. The people felt sorry for Benjamin because the LORD had left this gap in the tribes of Israel. So the Israelite leaders asked, "How can we find wives for the few who remain, since all the women of the tribe of Benjamin are dead? There must be heirs for the survivors so that an entire tribe of Israel will not be lost forever. But we cannot give them our own daughters in marriage because we have sworn with a solemn oath that anyone who does this will fall under God's curse."

Then they thought of the annual festival of the LORD held in Shiloh, between Lebonah and Bethel, along the east side of the road that goes from Bethel to Shechem. They told the men of Benjamin who still needed wives, "Go and hide in the vineyards. When the women of Shiloh come out for their dances, rush out from the vineyards, and each of you can take one of them home to be your wife! And when their fathers and brothers come to us in protest, we will tell them, 'Please be understanding. Let them have your daughters, for we didn't find enough wives for them when we destroyed Jabesh-gilead. And you are not guilty of breaking the vow since you did not give your daughters in marriage to them.'" So the men of Benjamin did as they were told. They kidnapped the women who took part in the celebration and carried them off to the land of their own inheritance. Then they rebuilt their towns and lived in them. So the assembly of Israel departed by tribes and families, and they returned to their own homes.

Obviously these women were repeatedly raped. These sick Israelite men killed and raped an entire town and then wanted more virgins, so they hid beside the road to kidnap and rape some more. How can anyone see this as anything but evil?

Why aren't these same ministers and fundamentalists in outrage over these verses, instead of focusing on verses pertaining to same sex marriages between two folks who actually love each other?

According to the bible, many Christians are currently living in adultery. Here's why.

According to the bible, a true follower of Jesus can neither divorce someone nor marry someone who is divorced. There is an exception to the rule, however. If a spouse commits adultery, divorce is permissible.

On the same token, the Bible also says that anyone who obtains a divorce and re-marries another is an adulterer.
Remember that 80% of this country is Christian yet we have a 50% divorce rate (80 percent in the African-American community).

A majority of divorces are a result of irreconcilable differences, not adultery, which implies that Christians are again practicing selective morality.
How many Christians are working on a second, third or fourth marriage?

1) “So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder” (Matthew 19:6 & Mark 10:9).

2) “Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery” (Matthew 5:32, 19:9 & Luke 16:18).

3) "Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery" (Matthew 5:32).

4) "...whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her" (Mark 10:11 & Luke 16:18), which applies to women as well (Mark 10:12).

Note: If these Christians are currently living in adultery based on the standards of their own bible, how can they with a straight face condemn someone else when they are guilty of sin themselves?
He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.

What those Black Pastors fail to realize is, that what they have to say is only relevant within the friendly confines of their church. Once the flock leaves the church and enter the real world they also realize lip service to the wise will fail on deaf ears, only those people who are gullible and share their beliefs will lend their ears.

Every Sunday the Black Pastors preach to fornicators, hypocrites, adulterers, criminals and other sinners, yet they chose to leave the friendly confines of the pulpit to attack those they consider the ultimate sinners.

Are the Black Pastors terrorists or are they just standing up for the Lord?

The point I made is as obvious as the sun on a bright sunny day. Some folks just need to take off the shades.

So you came to tell TSPN, to "take off your shades and look up in the sky and see the bright sun"; Ok we see that, you're not telling us anything we didn't already know, so what's your point?

Also if you're going to use or quote outside resources, then at least site those sources!!!! Folks here site the Bible all the time.

There were "black pastors" who opposed the civil rights movement.

Anyway, seems that black folks are listening to the backwards myth makers in the pulpit rather than listening to the logic, compassion and common sense of Obama.

But this is wear people, especially BLACKs and their religion comes into play. Some would rather go by religion because that all they know... instead of studying the word for yourself and free yourself from the confines of Religion... Because last I checked religion willl NOT get you into heaven.......

Ahhhh well. You cant black folk nothing bout their black "Passas" :smh:

1. Who said those things you mentioned don't keep people out of Heaven? Besides, we're not talking about that are we?

2. What religious practices hinder folks walk with God.

Everything we do is a religious practice. Either it is right or it is wrong.

Judging. Doesn't the bible say do not judge for you will be judged be a higher being? Just saying!!!

The bible tells us that we should judge but not judge hypocritically. The problem believers create for themselves is that when they throw out the “judge not, lest ye be judged’ card, they have no idea as to whether I'm free of any sin that would hinder me from judging the situation. This causes folks to judge my perceived judgment thereby responding with exactly what they’re accusing me of. The word judge also means to separate, select, choose, determine, and resolve. Not always condemn.

Jesus and Paul both called out individuals on their mess when their mess clearly interfered with God’s truth. The goal should always be to get someone to repent and head in the right direction. However, that discernment and examination that we’ve been called to do will require us to sift through the words of those that could be honestly wrong about something, or those that are without a doubt false prophets and ravening wolves.

In conclusion the word judge and similar words like it can be verbs or nouns and have a plethora of meanings depending on the context. To sum it up, however, remember these three words and corresponding definitions: krino(condemn), diakrino(discern), anakrino(examine). We must, as believers, do our homework before we judge someone of judging.

Besides, one can't lament about nobody speaking up in regards to the sins of the church or individual Christians, then when their own sins are pointed out want to tell others don't judge them. Just saying.

So you said all that to say, it is okay to judge as long as you think it is right.

and THATS the point... people don't want to look in the mirror and admit that sin IS sin...and "TALK ABOUT THAT"!!!!

2. What religious practices hinder folks walk with God.

in a nutshell.... Religion-Tradition... which MAY not always be correct.... (i.e., women wearing pants in church, pregnancy out of wedlock, women in the pulpit, etc.) I could go on and on..........

My point im making is WE ALL SIN no matter what the sin is its still SIN....

There has always been and probably always be some level of inconsistency within the church.... Many People will believe and support only what is being taught, instead of learning, praying for guidance, and studying the word themselves...

FOR THE RECORD I AM NOT ENDORSING GAY MARRIAGE.... just having dialogue. If this is what 2 consenting ADULTS agree to do with their lives.. By all means... ENJOY!!!

Ya'll can :argue2: all you want to, until someone returns from heaven to say "I've been there", I will continue to believe there is no :angel2: or :devil2:

You want to know why there is inconsistency in the church? Because it is made up of fallible human-beings.

And while it is true that we all sin, that doesn't me we should continue in sin or not speak out against it when it is present regardless of the circumstances. You are right about we should study the word for ourselves.

However, we have to not make the mistake to humanize God or bring him down to our level of understanding or change with the times.

If God never changes, we shouldn't change no matter what society says. And that is problem we face today in all of our churches. Too many people and leaders fail to remember that God's thoughts our not our thoughts and God's ways are not our ways. We live to the standard of man far too often. Oh, our pastor said X. Or these people said this. Or this group in doing that. Well, what did God say? That is what we should do.

Yeah Okay..

Christians exercising righteous judgement???? Ahhhhhh Yeah Okay... I guess...

If Jesus came back this Sunday morning, 98% of the folks at church service would be left sitting inside the church to go straight to hell.
