If the white gut is the best guy for the job then hire him. If the black man is the best man for the job then hire him. Quit hiring people because it is politically correct to do so.

It's funny how white folks wanna hold us to a standard that they don't attempt to meet...Unless they're forced too!

Are people really on this...smh Its sad if this is really the hold up from hiring the guy.

Blame GR for the thread derail...he's still trying to do it. lol
wait what? GR has only given solid solutions for a dwindling program that needs stability. Alcorn is working on its 4th coach in 4 years. In my opinion you should become a part of the JSU system and drop to d2. Right now you are not doing yourself or those kids any favors. Remember, its all about the kids and their education.

Alcorn to officially announce the hiring of Former Offensive Coordinator Michael Armour as Head Coach tommorow after commencement, according to Wlbt Rob Jay...

Armour....Hmmmmmmmm. On the one hand, there may still be some kids on the team that remember his signal calling from 2010, etc. BUT, I don't know at this point.

Don't pull no black/white BS with me. I'm a white guy who went to Valley and worked at Valley. And now I own my on business where I employ 6 blacks 6 Mexicans and 4 whites. It's ultimately all about winning and/or making money. Just put the best damn person in place and get the job done

I am a White Valley alum and I still reside in the Mississippi Delta and I will tell you this. If Valley doesn't merge with JSU, DSU, MSU, or UM it will be shut down in the next 10 years. The administration is terrible, the campus isn't that great, and they struggle in athletics. Come spend a week on campus and you will find my points on target. And if Alcorn will not hire a guy with good credintials, regardless of race, then they are crazy as hell. Hell with color, hire people who can educate and teach young mean and women how to prepare for life after college, i.e. the REAL WORLD, because the REAL WORLD will kick your ass if you let it.

I think BW1911 already asked this, and if so, forgive me. But if MVSU has a terrible administration, a campus that isn't that great, and if they struggle in athletics, why did you attend? There are other colleges in Mississippi; better yet, there are 49 other states to choose to attend college; why not attend one who has a better administration, better campus, and better athletics?

Also, are you implying that the professors and teachers at MVSU can't educate and teach young men and women how to prepare for life after college? If so, in addition to your other statements, I'm like BW1911; I don't see why you went to MVSU.

If this is true about Coach Armour, CONGRATULATIONS to him!

18KEEPER, how long before Armour gets back to Mississippi?

One of valley's biggest problems right now is attracting quality students. The rest are all financial.

Classes begin the third week of January with 50 people in class, and 4 weeks later your class is down to 20. You tell me where this problem lies? When i took my grad comps there were 6 females that got caught by the professor passing cheat sheets around and instead of failing them 6 MVSU had 100 people graduate that spring with a masters in criminal justice because they couldn't fail anyone, even those who did nothing to earn a degree, received a degree. What is that teaching? The president can't live on campus because the 3000 square foot house is not big enough so they want alumni to give back to pay for the weekly high dollar rate at the upscale Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood. These are just a few things

Again, why did you attend MVSU if it's as bad as you say? Or why didn't you just transfer? Again, Mississippi has other schools, and there are 49 other states to choose from.

But not to take away from Alcorn, congrats again to Coach Armour. The university is familiar with him, the players are familiar with him, and so are the fans. Hope this works out for Alcorn and the Braves.

At this point, I cant take anyones word on the situation. I have to see the official announcement since Theirs been so many unofficial announcments.
I hope Alcorn learn from this situation tho. Have A coach Already in mind, before you just fire someone just cause You can.

Folk n rumors...Sholl know a lot about what does not pertain to them....

half the rumors we read on here have substance to them...when people are expecting news and dates thrown out only to be retracted....there's truth to it

At this point they just need to hire somebody... Name an interim or something. It's almost June.

And no comment on the AD just being hired & already leaving... I hope that's just "gossip"
Otherwise that's sad

Brave...Im not joking

I honestly feel Alcorn and Valley should merge with JSU. The state could make JSU North at Itta Bena and JSU South at Lorman. Hell you can call it Jackson State Lorman campus/Itta Bena campus for all I care. We can streamline the system to make it more efficient. Once this republican congress digs in after Obama gets re-elected, you are going to hope for a merger instead of a closure. And this time, we aint marching for yall

Question. Why would ALCORN want to merge with jsu and we were just recognized as the #1 HBCU in the united states a couple of weeks ago? A merger of this magnitude would surely lower our standards!! Back to the thread. Hopson will be named the head coach; expect the announcement any day now. The athletic director is pissed because he wanted to bring his coach from Langston and the selection committee nixed that early on.

To SUJagfan...it would be a cold day in hell before I felt that Alcorn was in anyway inferior to jsu/Valley or any other Swac school you can name. I know what my school has done & produced.

And for the record, what have you all produced and done again?

I tried not to do this but... :swink:
