I've been through this entire ordeal with you jsu teegers in the late 90's. I don't have to re-produce a record of what my Alumni/University has done in its rich history. The record stands for itself & Alcorn continues to produce stars & greatness.

P.S. yes I do hate jackson state.
I havent seen anything/record you "produced", so I'll just file this under bunch of horseisht.

Nobody said anything about abolishing....GR said MERGE
That will be the next thing after a merger. You can't honestly sit here and believe that the state would allow a merger of that magnitude then keep each campus open. Well atleast I hope you don't believe that. A case of "Divide and Conquer".

Wow Really dude? man you need to go learn your swac history then.

@ ASU2002 sadly these guys have wool over their eyes man.

Why not?

Mississippi State has a branch in Meridian. Ole Miss had the medical school in Jackson. USM has a branch on the coast. Each has their purpose. Why is it so far fetched to believe that one HBCU can serve different areas of the state? Educating Black people in Mississippi is a role and function that is beneficial to the entire state and all of its people.

Merge means, to bring together. Right now we are divided.
Just imagine how much stronger we will be if we all push in the same direction. We need to stick together.

lol whut? childplease

Look at GR...'we got to stick together man' lol WOW

Who says "child please"?
That's how asinine his thought is that that's how it would truly go down is. Its the only response that warrants such an naive comment.

A sensible response would be given when a sensible expression is given.

Well why is it so far fetched to believe that "3" HBCU's in the state can't and aren't doing the same. That Meridian and Gulf Coast campuses are probably no more than 3 to 5 buildings, if that many. Just as Alcorn has branches in Natchez and Vicksuburg. Those don't compare to two fully operational campuses.

In other words, you have none.

If my comment was so invalid and so easy to be disproven, you would have already done so.

But, you haven't. Just chortle and foot shuffle. Interesting. :)

True we are divided, but we are divided for a different reason. This entire merger things brought up a sense of betrayal of who survives and who crumbles. A merger means that someone loses their identity, tradition, heritage, and pride. Who chooses who loses and who wins?
Example: the rivalry between the MS SWAC schools has always been intensive. When Haley Barbour first brought up the idea of merger and Dr. Mason almost around the same time came up with his own merger idea without the input of Alcorn or Valley's leadership, it gives the impression of back door deals. So at that point instead of the 3 schools coming together as we almost really did our own things of trying to stay separate units. You don't see that because it was set up not to affect your school.

You are like the guy wandering in the woods with no compass thinking you can find your way home based on your limited knowledge of nature, all the while refusing help from people who know the way and are trying to give you proper directions. But you can't receive it because you can't trust and you don't know any better!

Naw, he's just like BH123. That's all.

Y'all ignore that brave guy.
It wasn't too long ago alcornites were flapping their traps, laughing & pointing fingers saying JSU is about to become University of MS @ Jackson & that's the only reason why JSU's campus is growing and building modern high class facilities.

So please ignore that foolish cry of a foolish man.

I know a few Alcornites in Brookhaven (School Administrators) who actually agree with the Merge.
So for one to say its only Jacksonians thinking that way, it's a LIE!!!

ASU2002 these guys know this already. You don't have to explain this to them. Which is why I said what I said about them. They know its true.

@ coldsweat what are you talking about? Why would I listen to a jsu person that's of the follower ilk. You have no sense of leadership...you simply do what you are told to do.

I agree with most of what you are saying here. The problem was Mason and the underhanded way he went about presenting his plan. If he had been honest and up front with his proposal it may have been more appealing to all concerned. But Mason is lightskinneded and thats what lightskinneded people were bred to do.

Just to expose u guys for how ignorant you sound...since you all really went there and compared me with the likes of BH123

I'll name a few...

Alex Haley author of Roots, Queen, and the Autobiography of Malcom X (Pulitzer Prize winner) Alcornite

Micheal Clarke Duncan (Oscar Nominee) the guy literally sat on the couch with Oprah with an Alcorn State t-shirt on Alcornite

Megar Evers (no description even needed but I'll add a personal one. He was in my Grandfather/Grandmother's wedding that happened in to be the 1st of such events to occur in the chapel of Alcorn state. The steps of that chapel were used in the original film of Gone with the Wind) Alcornite

Do I really need to go on? Take a look at my Avatar...that guy is an Alcornite as well.

Don't ever come at me incorrect like that again...got it? Yea you got it.

Are you BH123's clone?

Are you BH123's clone?

Thanks for this...it is very valid in this discussion. Having opinions without knowledge is not of much value; not knowing the difference between them is a positive indicator of ignorance.

The only retort one can use after being given facts to the question he asked.

thanks for providing comic relief. Jesters must play the role after ignorance is no longer a crutch.

shrugs...you all asked the question, not me.
