2006-2007: Yes, Florida completely destroyed Ohio State beginning in the 1st quarter. But I enjoyed every minute of it. lol

2005-2006: Texas and USC was probably one of the best games ever in college football.

Why did you start at 05-06? It started in 98 and 7 of the 13 games were blowouts. The most competitive ones imo were

1. TX vs USC
2. Ohio St vs Miami
3. Auburn vs Oregon
4.Tenn vs FSU

Exactly! That would be exciting. Man you have upsets games going down to the wire because teams are playing hard and it would even the playing field. Part of the reason the other conferences may be perceived as weaker is because all the kids flock to the BCS conference teams. By giving the other schools a realistic chance to win a teams like Houston and Boise St may be able to get some of the 4 star and 5 star kids.

I wouldn't call the SEC a super difficult conference. Not with the likes of Ole Miss, Miss. State, Tennessee, Vandy, and Kentucky in it. After the Tide and Tigers, the plain truth is this: The rest of the league is ... meh. LSU's SEC opponents so far have a combined conference record of 7-19. Alabama's are 6-19 as of last week.

The way it is now 5 of the 6 BCS (the Big East being the BCS stepchild for now) conference play for a chance at the title and the other conferences (MAC, WAC, MWC, C-USA and Sun Belt) are just playing for the fun of it. As long as you got people with their biases like these posters that actually control FBS football that's all those other conferences will be playing for: the love of the game.

How come no one complains about it in basketball, baseball, softball, etc. when every conference winner gets a CHANCE to play for their sport's title? The only sport where you might hear some rumbles is basketball is because the elitists have a problem when a 15-23 SWAC team gets in the dance in MARCH but none of these elitists have a problem paying us to get kicked to sleep in November and December.

Sleep on Vanderbilt if you want, but they aren't an easy out this season. Their 5 losses were to #15 South Carolina, #16 Georgia, #8 Arkansas, #3 Alabama, and Florida. The Georgia, Florida, and Arkansas games were very close to being wins.

So we are going to give 6-6 North Texas a playoff spot for winning the Sun Belt over a 9-3 Georgia Tech that finished 4th in their much tougher conference?

Sure why not? Can a 9-3 Georgia tech that didn't win their conference have any chance to win a BCS title? Isn't it possible for a NFL team to make the playoffs with a sorry record in a weak division?

Don't they give teams at-large bids in every other sport if the selection committee feels their schedule warrants one? If UNT wins their conference, yes... that's a reward for winning their conference like they do in every other college sport. In FBS football, they get to play in a pre-Christmas New Orleans Bowl against a C-USA at-large team with no chance at the national title. Yep seems like right to me.
 
Another reason why it won't work. And what happens to the other 50 teams that would be bowl elgible, but didn't make the 24 team playoff field but have a good record at resume?

Well, it would be much better for 50 bowl eligible teams to not make the postseason following the regular season, than a third of the teams not being able to play for the national before the regular season ever begins under the BCS system.

What I'm saying is that it shouldn't be limited to conference winners only because there are stronger teams out there than some of these conference winners.

Ya'll might be laughing, but I think it is really impressive that Boise State went a decade without losing a regular season home game. I don't care what conference your team plays in, that streak is amazing, and it took a lot of things working out in TCU's favor for them to win.

Oh I agree. Doing something like that is very impressive. As far as things working out in TCU's favor, it was things working out in Boise State's favor for them to even get a shot at a last second field goal. The refs completely got it wrong on that bogus pass interference call that kept Boise State's drive going at the end.

I thought it was a iffy call. At the time the penalty helped bail out Chris Peterson/Kellen Moore from what appeared to be suspect play-calling on that final drive. Why were they throwing so many deep outs and digs? I actually thought Boise had a shot to either run another play to get the ball closer or even take a few shots at the end zone. Ah, well, in the words of the great Doug Williams: "You can't cry over a split milk."

With what happened today, if there were a playoff, would Boise State even be in it? LOL!! I mean it doesn't look like they will win their conference, and according to some, that should take them out of any playoff discussion since they say it should only be for conference winners. :emlaugh:
 
What would happen if LSU, Oklahoma State, and Bama some how lose before the end of the regular season? Who then would play for the national title?
