Why Do "We" Leave After Halftime

like Cee said Friday is the annual Dusk to Dawn party.... starts at 11am ends at about 5 or 6 am.... its an AAMU homecoming tradition.

And then there is the perception that Dodgers fans show up in the third inning and leave by the seventh.

We live in a time where there are groups of people who don't want to go to game just to watch what is happening on the field. At U.S. Cellular Field, folks can buy mobile phones, play video games, hangout in the bar and the kiddies can play in the Fundamentals area.

And with more fans choosing to not attend games due to cost, traffic, unruly patrons etc, I think it would wise for the suits to come up with more ways to get people to the arenas and stay there throughout the entire game.

So do people leave at half time during the Bear's game Kendrick since you used the step-child team of the city for your example. And the Cubs are proving that if you put a bad team on the field long enough "They will not come".

Unless the game was tight...Bears fans would leave and go finish drinking and tailgating until they made the rule "no tailgating during the game".

If folks aren't interested in what's on the field...they aren't going to stay. Why is that such a big deal!?

It's not just at HBCU's that Black folks aren't interested in the football games. Shucks...my Sorors invited me to HC at Illinois State and started explaining what goes on and I'm like, "hold up...y'all don't even GO into the game?!". She was like, "heyal naw. All the Greeks stay in the parking lot tailgating and kicking it before/during/and after the game". I talked to some guys that go to IState as well...they said the same thing.
 
Not trying to be funny, well, I lied, yes I am. :emlaugh: Go to an Ohio St/Michigan game in November. I don't care if it's snowing 5 inches in 40 minutes, it'll be packed, folx will be OUT of their seat, yelling/cheering, and smiling from ear to ear in the weather. THAT was my first real encounter w/ TRUE fans and most I felt like I shared something in common w/. Ironically, my 1st of numerous OhSt/UofM games I did that as a jr @ Prairie View. :emlaugh: Yep, I flew to Columbus for a football game and soon to be grad school check-in deal. :wavey: lol Up until that point, I saw 2 PV football games as an undergrad and was not remotely interested or impressed: When the J-Rice led devils were beating PV down 82-6 or something like that and Totten had just thrown a 60+yd bomb to J-Rice 4th qrtr, which was nullified - most of us newer crab students in the stands were rooting for Valley to bust 100 on PV because there were better athletes in the stands than in PV helmets lol. :emlaugh: And, when the vaunted JState came to town and was beating PV down 50 something to zero and the 3rd teamers :retard: for JState were on the field mocking Hayman and his "coaching" staff hunching in the air and telling them to suck their peckers lol. :emlaugh:

That's right.

Like I said earlier people go to game sometimes just to tailgate, hangout in the parking lot, drink and chill. Others might go in the stadium to catch the first half and then go back in the parking lot to finish up tailgating and drinking. Some folks who attend games with stadiums that have bars inside of them, don't even sit in the stands. They sit in the bar the whole and barely pay attention to what's going on during the game.

I was just trying to give examples that even professional sports fans treat games like social events to just hangout with friends or fans from the other team/school the entire time. Heck, there is a pool inside Chase Field where the Arizona Diamondbacks play. A lot of those people go to the game just to hangout in the pool area the whole time.

Sporting events are entertainment. And people can have whatever experience at those games they want for as long as they want.

Now I do wish people at the game would realize it's a sporting event and not Church...it's okay to cheer loud and stand up. Now THAT irritates the heyal out of me!! The person behind me steady asking me to sit down. Man get yo ass up or buy your seats on the front row.
 
JSU fans left quick, fast and in a hurry when James Bell asked for a running clock in Lewis Crews. I will never for get that day. Every time we scored more left. :shame:

Well, there wasnt enough A&M fans in 2007 to leave early when we came to Crews. They were all at TnST homecoming.

Well, Wrigley Field is still the third largest tourist attraction in the state of Illinois. That's why I used the Cubs in my previous post. Besides, the Cubs are still, even though they have blew this season, are in the top 10 in home attendance and the second highest road attendance in all of MLB in 2011. So people are still coming. LOL

If folx, who sat through ALL of those beatdowns would recall, they'd be sitting 4th qrtr 00:00 of games as well. Witnessing and financially doing what one could to try to help the program(s) out during those turbulent times, one cannot help but to sit there now and reflect and be thankful those dark(er) days are over, hopefully. Well, not completely over. 90+% of the current PV athletic dept, including administration, needs to be fired. They should be thankful my name isn't Dr George Wright. :)

I swear...every year in Memphis we have this problem. I already know it's gonna happen next weekend. we buy our tickets together...daymn near 17 deep...and we are all cheering and watching the game having a good time. Plus we are drunk. :lol:

Last year...it was a couple sitting right behind me. My homegirl next to me...we were facing each other (sitting surprisingly) talking...she had her coke bottle up while talking to me like in her face but again...we were sitting down so it wasn't high or anything. No lie...dude behind me asked my homegirl to lower her coke bottle b/c he couldn't see the field. :dead: My homegirl was like..."you can't see the field b/c of my...coke bottle". We just fell out laughing.

Another time...the players were lining up but play hadn't started. we are right in front of the endzone so every JSU fan should have been on their feet anyway. Well...we are standing up...my homegirl (same girl...she's all of maybe 5'0") is standing...same daymn dude behind us is sitting down (wack ass)...he's trying to get my homegirl's attention but she can't hear him...so our girl on the other side looks at him like, "you want her attention?"...he replies, "I can't see", that homegirl looks at the field and looks back at him and says, "you not missing anything...they just lining up" and turns back around!! :lmao:

Mind you...that same damn couple...as soon as the Boom hit the field at halftime stood the entire halftime. :smh:

With Southern's ticket prices, I ain't leaving until I'm damn good and ready and sometimes, that's when they are turning off the lights.
 
Well, I've waited for this time of year to get here and I'm too excited now that it's here! Tomorrow I plan on being at War Memorial Stadium no later than 12:30 and will be in the stadium at 4PM. Our game starts at 5PM and I'm not leaving until M4 leaves.


Hope tomorrow brings all the football and band fans much happiness!
