You pretty much just made my point. Retention is key. A kid can play one year, and have a 4.0, but if his eligibility ends or his scholarship gets pulled, and he goes back home to work at the local grocery, the school pays the price. So it's not grades as much as it is retention.

I think we should just deal with the consequences (and the vote) gracefully. After all, there's no one to blame for putting us in this mess but us.

The APR is a bunch of BS really, the APR was created to stop the things that Arkansas was doing. Yet, it doesnt effect any thing that Arkansas was doing. Just another way to say that certain schools are better for a athlete then others.

remember that argument that we had about caring and Graduated our students, Well they found a way to make our story a lie.

I cant understand why our own would vote for the teams to banned when everyone knows that those are the only 2 teams that the SCG dont have to doc the paper up on attendence.

If a student-athlete is in good academic standing and leaves school early to pursue a professional career, the team is NOT penalized and loses no APR points. But if a student-athlete leaves early and is in poor academic standing, the team loses two points, making it harder for the team’s APR to recover.

The key is 'in good academic standing'...... regardless of when they leave school they still needed to have gone to class while there. It could make u wonder if they were actually playing ineligible players or did they just stop going to class in the last year of their eligibility!!!!!!

Negative... even though it's a land grant it can be a satellite campus, Jackson State University at Alcorn.

Same thing happened to Arkansas AM&N which became... you guessed it: University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

I don't see why people are whining. If one public HBCU can receive a good APR, all are able and capable of doing the same thing. Quit all the excuses and conspiracies. The backwoods southern type of thinking makes some feel otherwise.

If his eligibility ends, he stops counting toward the school's APR.

It's amazing that Big 10 schools have multi-million dollar tutoring and social programs for their athletes to help keep them in school, yet you think that all there is to it is to get class? You need to get real.

For the umpteenth time, the APR situation includes more than just going to class.

The SCG should have been banned as a whole. It's not needed. SU and JSU aren't missing a thing if they really think about it.

I paid for my own education. Btw, what specifically was "stupid" about my post? Those are legit concerns Alcorn's president may have.

That's the best post on this entire thread....This here is a lesson of how we have gotten so far from the reason why we send our kids to school....a free education is a terrible thing to waste.... All that other jive about whose school is better is BS... We all rute for a color but the only color important to a graduate is green...

If it's backwoods thinking, then why are the larger schools spending millions on tutoring and other resources to keep players in school? I guess their thinking is backwoods too. Fact of the matter is, HBCU's don't have the funding for multiple compliance officers nor the funding to provide resources to help keep a lot of these academically troubled players in school.

And usually, the kinds of players that come to HBCU's are the ones with the most problems not only academically, but socially as well. Just going to class isn't all there is to it, but you can believe that it is if you want to. I used to think that, but not anymore.
