The truth is it didn't matter where SU was ranked in 1997.
JSU would have went into the playoffs anyway being ranked #13 in FCS that year. I think SU was like #10 or #11.
The fact is that everytime JSU went to the playoffs except 1 year, we were ranked inside the TOP 16 teams in FCS. I think one year we got in being ranked #18 or #19.

All that's good but did yall win any games? That's what i'm saying. Even then the SWAC couldn't get pass the first round but people are crying playoffs and that's when SWAC football was much better. So as you see, JSU didn't get into the playoffs because SU had to go to the BC. JSU got in because JSU was ranked high enough to make the field on our own as usual.

Look at the total games. JSU DROPPED in the polls when that final one came out because of our loss in the 1st round. We were in the top 10 when bids came out. And quit trying so hard to take digs at JSU for having the guts to try down my position on the playoffs. Trust me............I KNOW the half azz mentality of this conference. SCREW THE PLAYOFFS................YA'LL WON................LET IT GO...............JSU PLAYOFF RECORD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A TEAM THAT STOPPED TRYING. I have never grasped some of you peeps thinking. You would rather go to something just to be able to brag about going to it. When my team is apart of something i want them to win/be competitive. I'm not for embarrassments because HBCU teams get that year in and year out. YT didn't stop us from going, we are playing the most seen HBCU game on the planet and YT is pissed at that. YT makes you want to go to the playoffs to feel validated, i call that MEACIsh Validity. Until my team beats quality OOC teams i feel we don't need to think playoffs, if you like JSU getting embarrassed and humiliated on national tv to please YT, that's you. Tell you President that yall want to move to the OOC. It's in your proximity.:read:

Why is that a bad look? We played a team that ended up at #6 and we only lost by a TD. It was a good game. Nothing to hang our head about. Somebody had to lose. ...and 1.) Shannon blew the game in the first half when we were about to go into the half leading and 2.) The refs cheated their azzez off in the second half...blatantly and didn't care. Our players said they would call a phantom penalty and wink at them. :smh:

The 1999 year was pretty big too. TNST went into the playoffs ranked #1, FAMU made it to the quarter finals with an at large bid and N.C. A&T if memory serves me correctly upset the #1 team (TNST). Also, that year, JSU has two first round draft choices, S.U. won the conference title by beating JSU twice with a combined attendance of over 100,000, Hampton was ranked #1 in BCF going into the Circle City Classic and got beat by #2 S.U. and got revenge on S.U. by beating us in the Heritage Bowl..........1999 was an awesome year....

The fact of the matter is the Bayou Classic isn't stopping no one but SU and GSU from going to the playoffs if the SCG was canceled that's all you should be concerned with which majority of this thread has touched.
