What is it with the Heat's inability to win close games against teams above. 500?

This thread is comical!! I get tired of talking about it. ITS LEBRICKS FAULT

Wade: "Didnt I tell you to pass me the damn ball"
James: "Damn, I know I know, but I thought I could make it this time"
images

its really as simple as this

until Lebron does whats right & gets out of the damn way in the clutch they will continue to struggle

You don't recruit the two-time reigning league MVP to your team who just so happens to be the best all-around performer (statistically) on the squad this season, and tell him "to get out of the way" in late game situations.

If that is the case, what is the point of clamoring for LeBron in the first-place.

Re: D-Wade or Lebron: The Miami Heat Controversy

The Heat has a leadership and power struggle issue, also they have no toughness. Bosh is as soft as they come. I saw the game and it was in the third quarter and Bosh had no rebounds in the game at that time, at 6'11, that is not acceptable. There are games where James & Wade had more rebounds than softy Bosh. Either Bosh becomes the low post toughness the Heat needs, or the Heat are gone. They better decide whether the leader is James or Wade.

That has never been Bosh's game and the Heat knew that. They were counting on Haslem being there to be that but he is hurt

First off, I don't care what people on the board say, I speak for me and me alone. I already stated that Kobe won two rings WITH Pau Gasol, but you purposely overlooked that. I don't think we need to drudge up where he was before Memphis gave up Pau for a turd sandwich, but that makes my point. Kobe didn't become a lesser player when he played on terrible teams just like he didn't be come greater when he played on better teams. Cleveland's record this year speaks for itself regarding the quality of team LeBron played on.

1. Albeit the trade was fishy (thanks Jerry West) The Griz got a quality Big in Marc Gasol.

2. Kobe won w/ Pau but it was and has always been Kobe's team! Pau ain't won ish on his own. He needed someone like Kobe to push him into greatness. Remember how Charmin soft he was that first year??

3. Cleveland is bad, no doubt, but the fact that LeBron left so late & didn't give them a chance to replace him early in free agency or trade early cab attribute to this! They wouldnt have been able to replace him buy they could have found a good player early to fill in a bit of the slack.

That's the thing... Those with BBall knowledge saw this as a problem from the get-go. LeQueen & Wade are too young to concede & sacrifice their game (al la Ray Allen). Not to mention neither one can shoot worth a damn anyways.. They've both volume shooters & that'll never work!

Actually, LeBron has had to make some sacrifices this season. He's played all five positions during certain points for the regular season due to roster deficiencies and depth problems the Heat have had to deal with all season.

Aside from that he still shoots a high percentage and his assist numbers are on par with his career average.

On the three Chalmers hit to the tie the game with about a minute left guess who passed him the ball? LeBron James.

Wade hasn't shot the ball well either late in games (0-for-6 this season in the clutch). He hasn't shot foul shots well in games either. But again, LeBron is the guy you want with the basketball late in the game. The numbers show that.

I know recently that it has not worked out, but given enough opportunities eventually those shots are going to fall. The Heat have too many accomplished players (at least three of them) for that not to happen.

If the Heat want to win those games...they will give the ball to the true CLOSER on that team.

You have some points but it doesn't work like that Kendrick. Not in the clutch.
Wade can & will do what needs to be done in the clutch. It is the reason why he already has a ring. Lebron has not & will NOT perform in those situations the way the team needs him to because he isn't made that way. Its just not in him. Its a mental aspect to the game in those situations & Lebron can not handle those clutch plays.

DWade has shown it...once DWade either grabs the bull by the horn & asserts himself or Lebron & the coach realize they will not win unless he defer's to Dwade in the closing mins of the game...they will continue to struggle.

So just because Wade did done it in the playoffs five years ago means that the best player in the game (LeBron James) should defer to him? What most people don't realize is that Shaq also was a big part of that Heat run to the championship in 2006. Wade didn't do it by himself.

He averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and shot 60 percent from the field in the regular season. In the postseason, Shaq averaged 18, 10 and shot 61 percent from the field. That is when folks thought the big man was done. But that's another story.

But this team and more specifically, The Big Three, will be ultimately judged on what happens next month instead of what happens now.

This reminds me so much of two other athletes. Barry Bonds and A-Rod. They were criticized for not coming up big in the clutch and in the postseason. Eventually, with enough opportunities, those guys came through. And that is the way it is now with LeBron and Wade.

Nobody remembers the late game shots as a Cavalier in the playoffs against Washington, Orlando; carrying Cleveland to the Finals (a far less talented team than Wade played on in 2006) to the Finals over a pedigreed Pistons squad as a 21-year-old.

We tend to remember the last thing we saw as possible indicators who that guy is as a player. Which at the end of the day is not a predictor of future performances.

Last Sunday everyone was singing the praises of Chauncey Billups after hitting another big shot late in the game against the Heat, saying "Mr. Big Shot strikes again." What folks failed to realize is that before draining that long three-point shot over Wade, he had been 2 of his last 27 in recent clutch situations.

So, it's all relative I suppose.

Re: D-Wade or Lebron: The Miami Heat Controversy

LOL@ Bron up top on ISO when everyone knows he wasnt going to shoot. That switch by the Bulls was geninus...he wasnt going to dare try to shoot over Noah...and it baited him to drive to the basket where they could crowd things to defend...esp since his teammates weren't moving to get open or even looked like they wanted the ball in that situation. Makes no sense that you have WADE and BRON...and you running that same Cleveland..stand and look offense at the end of the game.

Noone is saying Wade did it by himself. What we are saying is that when its time to WIN the game, the ball needs to go to Dwade just as it did when Shaq was there. Lebron can be just as important to the win of a Championship in MIA, he just has to understand his ROLE. He is not a closer. He can dominate the opponent all game...just as Shaq did, but when that ball needs to go in the hole & the team is down 3 or less points with less than a min or so in the game...DWade must be the one pulling the trigger....that's if the Heat want to win a Championship.

As long as the Bulls and Celtics Play out of the eastern division Labads chances of winning a championship gets slimmer and slimmer. Its aint if the Heat do one thing or the other, it plain and simple the Bulls and Celtics are better all around than the Heat and the Bull quite frankly appear to be the best team in the NBA this season. You heard here first the Bulls will defeat the Spurs for the NBA championship this summer. No team in the NBA bench can matchup with the Bulls. Rose is better than Wade and Boozer and Noah certainly imo combine neutralizes Labad and da Bush.

Ive been say'n it....give DWade the rock in the clutch. I ain't gon' say it no'mo. Well, atleast, not until Lebron fuggs it up again.

1) To sell tickets
2) To get on covers of magazines
3) get rid of rival teams (Cavs and Raptors)

They did that and discover no one is scared of them. Because at the end of the day what do the Spurs, Bulls, Celtics, Mavs and even Lakers have to lose? The pressure is all on the Heat. ANd other teams (KNicks) are paying attention as to what not to do when building a superteam.

I know I call Bosh soft, but he was 9 for 14 on yesterday. Why was not the final play called for him? Since he was shooting better than James and Wade.

Well, at the end of the Orlando game the last play was called for him and he promptly missed a three-point shot.

Again, LeBron James, even though he hasn't come through in the last few situations, needs to be the guy with the ball in his hands. That's why he's there.

I see what you are saying. But why does James get chances to win the game, but when Bosh misses, you don't want to give him another chance? I would have liked to see the play called for Bosh in the low post and give him the option of going one on one, or kicking it out to an open shooter.
