And exactly how do we do that? It's clear that the government (republicans and democrats) have their own agendas that THEY want to take care of. They will tell us (the people) anything, so we can employ (vote for) them.
Basically, we have nothing more to choose from other than two big bowls of shat. We just vote for the one we think smells the best.
The people care about where their money in taxes goes...just not enough to make a stand and demand that the government do what they were hired to do (ie SERVE the people)
The roles are reversed. We should be telling THEM what to do for us...not the other way around. But this crap has been going on for so long, it's become the norm.
So now, it's a big arse snowball effect. How do we stop this from continuing to roll out of control?
We have to educate ourselves and educate our Brothers/sisters around us!! Example:
Healthcare bill...we've discussed it to DEATH on this site and have shared plenty of information as to what's in the bill! We even took it a step further to break down tax brackets, etc. That is GREAT information that most other folks don't know. What Toi posted in the first healthcare thread where it listed what benefits are in the bill and when the go into effect...to print that out, make copies and distribute it would do A LOT b/c we know that the insurance companies are not going to actually inform people of the changes to their plans or their options. Forward that information along, even if it's just putting it in the mailboxes of your neighbors...they can't say they never received the information.
Get trained to be a deputy registrar so we can register people to vote. Not only get people registered to vote but explain why it's important that they vote. Not even pushing one party over the other...just providing the information. Yes I know deputy registras can't endorse one party over the other, do it as a seperate event. Register the people...then come back later with the information. This is what my org is in the process of doing...getting trained to register people to vote! The primary elections in February in the State of Illinois had a HORRIBLE voter turnout!! Just awful...but then mofos want to complain!! It's laughable!!
We have to get involved in demanding our politicians to do stuff for us!! Right now the main parties controlling the Govt. are Repubs/Dems...that's what we got to deal with. Doesn't matter WHO is in control if we make our voices/demands heard they can't deny us!! Politicians where I live don't even campaign in my area b/c they already know "we" aren't going to vote against them. They haven't done a DAMN thing for this area either...some would think their only area was Chicago. hmph...haven't gotten a vote out of my household in over 7 years either!!
At Tavis' summit the story of A. Phillip Randolph was constantly used as an example
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._Philip_Randolph,
As told by the panelists, A. Phillip Randolph went to President LBJ and told him that more jobs/justice was needed for African Americans. The response from LBJ was along the lines of, "okay. You are correct. But make me"! As Minister said he doesn't know if LBJ was saying "make me" to mean he didn't want to do it or he needed to show to his fellow congressmen that he didn't have a choice b/c of the voice of the (black) people was so strong that they were making him do it. Either way...A.Phillip Randolph's response was to gather over 100,000 African Americans with the intention of marching on WAshington. They made LBJ listen to them...
We don't like what Obama is doing then we need to "make" him listen to us!
The Latino community is marching loud with their demands. How the heyal can you have people marching to demand something...when some of them aren't even legal?!! :lol:But they do it!
The Gay/lesbian community is marching loud with their demands. Don't ask don't tell...and other rights for them.
College students at Berkely in California are acting a fool over tuition hikes; protesting. They are making their demands heard! HBCU students must not need money:retard:
But we are the ones that are MOST AFFECTED by everything in America...and we are silent! :shame:
Before you ask/make the statement...please believe everything I listed above I am currently working on in my community and I am open to any other suggestion/advice.
