Health care reform: How it might work for real people

Re: Healthcare Part II

Perhaps, but the rich folks will cry because they will STILL come off of more money than anybody else (which is why they are crying now).

The poor folks will cry because 17% of a lil bit is more than they can afford.

The middle class will cry because they got the worst of both worlds.

Then you got to consider the loopholes (under the table dealings, folks whose income is soley cash, illegal stuff). They have no documentation of their earnings. So they evade the flat tax (kinda like what's happening now)

Truth be told, I believe that a consumer tax is the best option, even though the risk involved is great. At least this way, with every dollar spent, you know that a percentage of it is going to whatever the government needs it for.

I apologize Warndalyn.

I am leaning towards a consumer tax myself. Some complain that the rich won't pay enough because they don't buy as much. I think people think too much about the individual in this case (even though the stuff they buy is sometimes more expensive). Corporations would be taxed on the goods they buy as well I assume. So they WILL pay.

Re: Healthcare Part II

I don't feel too much for the poor because... they basically CHOOSE to do nothing with their lives and collect off of the government...

:retard:

Come on now, Jared. Change that to them TRIFLIN people choose to do nothing with their lives and collect off of the government, not the poor.

On the flipside of the arguement...

Where will the government get its money if everybody decided to penny pinch? Naturally, that would cause the taxes on the products we consume to go WAAAYYYYYY WAAAAYYYYY up.

I believe that's still how it is in the Bahamas. The don't do income taxes over there. They have customs and duties over there. I don't believe they are penny pinching like we are her. But since most of the things they have over there are imported, the taxes on items is RIDICULOUS. Just imagine paying like $4.00 for a can of soda.

And we not even gonna talk about the price of gasoline...lol

You make a good point. It could get quite messy looking at it like that. At any rate folk would still batch about taxes just the same. It also makes it harder to ease the burden on the less fortunate unless necessities aren't taxed.

That, sir, is complete utter bullshit. Only a purposeful FOOL would choose do that.

Re: Healthcare Part II

The real problem is folks are more concerned about the folks on the low end getting over. When in reality, it is the folks on the higher end who steal and get over more than anyone.

I preach that all the time and if this would have continued this would have been an ongoing problem with the republicans "milking" this country (lower class) dry. There is too much of this, "let's make money here," "let's make money like this" when there is no money to be made like they want to but they keep insisting that we do it. There seems to be no consideration for the younger generation; an example is the republicans are trying with the repealing of the Health Care Bill that young individuals 18 years old should be taken off of their parent's insurance, BUT the question is how are they going to find insurance for themselves at that age especially at a time like this and also most of them are going to universities where a lot of jobs that offer them work don't have insurance for them...WOW, it makes me wonder do they care about the health of the young people (essentialy they are letting people die). 2. There is the issue of pre-existing conditions that they prohibit them from receiving insurance PERIOD! This puts those people at a disadvantage because they are being denied insurance because they say they are going to die anyway (what a boner!) which ranges from low to extreme in terms of seriousness. Finally, under the old of HCB (Health Care Bill) they say they can drop you from the insurance plan once you reach a certain which puts you at a dispositions because if you live to 98 and they drop you and your retirement funds run out then how are you going to pay for it, which I think they are just using you for money purposes including not taking you after a certain time because they know you are prone to injuries in which they know they are going to have to pay up a lot of money (you get the point, no pun intended).

I think this puts those repubs. in a position to where they are going to have to get their income in terms of stakes in the market by other means (what better (from their standard) way for them to get it from a money driven entity such as the medical arena). Hillary Clinton tried to get them to change the HCB when her husband was in office and it they tried to crucify her and that was the last time they tried to change it. This shows just how dumb things have been in this country in terms of helping people and that further (porbably) shows how much money they had invested in those venues that was making them vast amounts of profit; that was when they economy was booming and they used that (most likey) to say the gov't was just fine and we are still the top money-makeing country in the world.

I said that to say this, "this might have been the best thing to come about so we can make some serious changes to this gov't." I can say that this last gov't allowed too many people to profit from venues that left this country with its mouth (like birds waiting to feed) standing wide open, IMO.

Re: Healthcare Part II

how about we say to hell with taxes...and do away with public schools, librarys, fire departments, police departments, the military, and anything else that is socialist in america!

See how that works for ya! Until then STFU with compliants about taxes!

thats my $0.02

Re: Healthcare Part II

It's a lot that could have been done...
Open the borders in which citizens can purchase more than the coverage your particular state offers..

More proof that you just like to hear yourself type.

Lessen government mandates on doctors so they wouldn't have to charge as much because of EXTRA EXTRA procedures because of the fear of being sued.

Covering pre existing conditions is something I agree with....

I don't agree with making citizens HAVE to purchase what the government DEEMS adequate health care coverage....

Re: Healthcare Part II

You can't do that because dissolving the IRS would eliminate RB's job.

What the hell you talking about? I've stated "SEVERAL" times the IRS is "ILLEGAL" and should not exist.........

US Income Tax is Illegal, IRS is Illegal

So is that the real reason why people are so angry about the bill passing? People dont want more money taken out of their taxes? I was being a smart ass in the other thread but i really want to know the case.

And what solution do those who oppose it come up with bc doing nothing solves nothing.

Let's be real...who really wants more money coming out of their paychecks!?!? Really!? I hate when I look at my paystubs and see ALL the daymn money taken out of my paycheck for taxes. In my opinion, that's a human-nature feeling.

Now that I got that out the way :lol:that's where people have realize that this bill is just what most Black "activists" have been calling it, a "moral" bill. This is a bill where those that "have" (even if it's a little) will need to give in order to help those that don't. This is a "moral" bill b/c we are doing what's right...that's the bottom line.

Legally...we shouldn't have to...but it's the right thing to do, help your fellow countryman. Some White people will NEVER understand this bill/feeling b/c they are the "Priviledged" race. Its' always about them...so for them to have to give to someone else, pullleeeaazzeee!!! Not unless its a poor black kid that can't read, momma on drugs, etc. Or a whale that's stuck on the beach somewhere.

Truth be told...when everyone (or at least majority) is doing better (financially, fiscally, etc.) then that helps EVERYONE else do better. When people are working, they are healthy...then that's more money pumping through the system.

So yes, the rich is getting taxed more...okay but when the "little" people beneath them are working they are steady pumping more money back into the rich folks pockets so it's not like they are missing their money.

how about we say to hell with taxes...and do away with public schools, librarys, fire departments, police departments, the military, and anything else that is socialist in america!

Nooooo why not fix the systems and actually use the taxes the right way? Every govt. agency you named up there needs more money b/c the taxes aren't being sent down the right channels/being using the right way. The system is broke, dont' try to act like it's not.

Like it was said by one of the panelists at Tavis' summit, "how the heyal do you close a library"!?!

So don't tell folks to STFU when money is coming out of their paychecks monthly but the local police department is understaffed, the library is closing, etc. Even the military is underfunded...let "them" tell it.

Also...that's another reason why people need to "invest" back into their local public agencies. If you are paying taxes why are you paying more money to send your child to a private school?! Okay...if you live in Chicago then I can understand depending on your child's grades. But there are folks in the suburbs that are not making ends meet trying to send their child to a private school and there are perfectly good public schools up the street? Why? That's ass backwards to me...you are wasting your tax dollars. Now to me...that shyt should be illegal!! How the heyal you sending your child to a private school and you on public aid...hmmm...fugg that!

Again...I agree with J-Lo (sutrp) on this point...we (the people) don't demand what's our right from the govt.

Re: Healthcare Part II

Naw buddy. I sure the hell ain't tell nobody from over THERE to come to no PV. Thats like tellin you to go to MIT. I only tell folk that can cut it. So when they leave PV they are just like me...gettin flown to major corps for interviews along with other folk from serious programs. The only time I saw an SU person in those days was an airline stewardess. So yea...the are glad for sure.

I actually beat out a MIT student for a job for Hewlett Packard you dumbass...

We are arguing with people that are running failing businesses and more than likely cheat on their taxes or receiving a bunch of benefits that we can't qualify for because they feel it's all to the good....lmao

They like it I love it.....To bad when people accept being fuked....Glad I wasn't raised like that... I may not can't related to this sort of thinking because most the folk I'm with are pretty much in the same pay class as me..

~shrugs~

Hell if they like it I love it...

How about that? But you know that would cause people to actually work and possibly be accountable for what they do and totally change how they work. You know the lazy (or really comfortable) ain't going for that too much.

Fix the systems that use taxes huh? A lot of those systems were not properly funded in the first place, or tried to use other revenue streams outside of income taxes (sales taxes, fees, duties, property taxes, lotteries) and those did not generate the proper amount of money.

Then there are the instances where money is diverted from one program to another. This is the case more often than not. Folks squeezing the system dry with their pet projects.

Not fix the systems/agences that use taxes, fix the system that the taxes go into. Just as you said "folks squeezing the (tax) system dry with their pet projects"...that should not be the case.

Re: Healthcare Part II

How in da hell did that happen!

Easy... I was in top of my engineering class at SU besides PV one of the most respected engineering programs of all HBCUs.... you from well you know where... so I see why you are confused...

Our professors at SU actually prepared us better than most PWCs including LSU, UNO and and obviously MIT well the guy who was up for the job... Who knows he might have got the offer after I turned them down to go back to New Orleans to work.... I think it also helped that I was trained for a year under the seniors engineers who I interned for.

Re: Healthcare Part II

The MIT cat's tax calculations were probably even worse than his....

Boy you are about the stupidest... simple math will tell you the numbers I posted gives you over 30%.

What kind of business you running? a lemonade stand?

If you lucky enough to get a contract for jazz fest you may make your year..

Re: Healthcare Part II

I'm going into the tax prep business now.

Never said I did my own taxes "dumbass" although I can do my own....

But you on the right track, find another business if you ain't pulling in enough dough to actually look at what you made and said "damn look wht uncle sam took"...

Find you something else..

I'm hardly ever going to say "damn look at what uncle same took..." because I use what uncle same provides with that money.

Not fix the systems/agences that use taxes, fix the system that the taxes go into. Just as you said "folks squeezing the (tax) system dry with their pet projects"...that should not be the case.

And exactly how do we do that? It's clear that the government (republicans and democrats) have their own agendas that THEY want to take care of. They will tell us (the people) anything, so we can employ (vote for) them.

Basically, we have nothing more to choose from other than two big bowls of shat. We just vote for the one we think smells the best.

The people care about where their money in taxes goes...just not enough to make a stand and demand that the government do what they were hired to do (ie SERVE the people)

The roles are reversed. We should be telling THEM what to do for us...not the other way around. But this crap has been going on for so long, it's become the norm.

So now, it's a big arse snowball effect. How do we stop this from continuing to roll out of control?
