Let's see can I help you...
1. Success-We enjoy seeing brothers have this kind of success, playing key roles at that.

2. Family Ties-We all know brothers and sisters @ or attended UA (non-athletes btw) who are good, down to earth folk...and successful.

3. Home state pride-Yeah racism's everywhere but apparently it's not as bad here as it is in MS./LA because most folks I know don't "HATE" Alabama's PWCs. They might not like 'em but hate?:lol: This is not Wallace's UA. These kids, born 40+ yrs. after all that went down don't care about it and rightly so. They see if for what it is, a dark time in U.S. history but now...try to take full advantage of the opportunities Ms. Vivian and others sacrifices provide.

4. High level football-We enjoy college football...played @ a high level, great defense, offense and coaching.

It just seem weird on "here" how you alabama folk from HBCus don't share the same attitudes as the Mississippi and Louisiana folk when it comes to our flagship schools...

Me personally I look at all them schools the same...

When ever it's a BCF championship game I usually pull for the closest PWC to my state.... But I usually put LSU and BAMA before any of them... don't ask me why....lol

Also before folks went off to HBCUs or wherever, folks grew up on the Crimson Tide(War Eagle )/SEC Football, that was what was broadcasted and showcased allllllll the time, this was way before the Troy Sts, UAB, South Alabama football team creations. Big name ball was Alabama and Auburn, throw in that serious instate rivalry within the best football conferenceD) and there you have a breeding ground for folk to be die hard. the majority of the people here do not wallow in the history racism(well most folks), hell if that were the case, we'd all never leave our homes. :lol: Take out the racism and politics, and it still leaves great football, point blank. Men(and women ) love big name football. Bama has now 13 national championships, they are naturally going to be the hometown fave, no way around it, just is. I don't understand why this is not understood, but then again, I was raised here.

We dont have an NFL team, and if we did they would still get overshadowed by Bama football... and Im sure there would be fights through the game between Bama and Auburn fans.... everyone here just grew up on Bama football. The smaller white schools here are TEN times worst. You will see more Bama shirts and car flags on cars at UAB than you will see UAB flags or paro.... same thing with Troy or Jacksonville State.... also like I stated earlier Alabama use to be Birmingham's team (when they played all of their games at Legion Field)...thats why most Birmingham folks I know are Bama fans.

Now as far as the Mississippi folks....Ole Miss or Mississippi State simply put dont have traditionally good programs. They are Conference USA schools playing in the SEC.

but it aint an issue with the people on "this site", its many many the others. And I am very much so with you on the "its weird" comment in support of "our" schools, like FOREAL. thats an argument I get into with my fellow constituents more than I'd care to. if you pay attention, the most folk on "here" from Bama love and support their HBCU, physically, financially(can only speak for me on that), and otherwise. :nod: With us, A&M and Bama St( :vomit: :lol the die hards are usually in most cases, always the people you "see" on "here".

I remember in the early to mid 80's Ole Miss had some pretty good teams...

a few of my cousins who attended Alcorn used to get mad at me for actually like Ole Miss.....lol

I just enjoy good fair collegiate competition. I live in a city with five schools in a 30 mile radius of my home, and I'm not really passionate about any of them. I am not really over the top about JSU athletics either.

Do I want JSU to win in everything? Yes, but I don't live and die with the programs either. I'm just not a college guy. I live in pro town and follow the pro teams.

I like talking about college sports, but if I had to pick between a pro game or a college game, I'm picking the professionals. So I don't have a problem with HBCU alums who also like Bama, Texas, Ole Miss or Florida. Hey, that who they were probably exposed to more than the HBCUs as a kid. Can't knock it.

From reading what JR has been typing about the subject...I don't see how he's wrong. He never said it would look like a home game inside the stadium, due to the ticket allotment. But, more-so in AND around the stadium.

I have friends pro-Texas and pro-Bama that made the trip. Both of them said that Pasadena had mostly burnt orange walking around. Both said it was ALOT from both...but, you can tell Tx was just deeper in numbers. Not just for the game...but, all week leading up to the game. Heck, from my pro-Texas potnah that was around the stadium for the OSt/Oreg game, he said they had alot of lil groups of burnt orange wearers hanging around.


So, on that note...JR's right. Texas probably outnumbered Bama folks.

The only reference to "home games" that I read were referring to inside AND outside of the game...and, not just what you saw on TV.

I think the win by Bama is a little tainted. A small blemish on the otherwise flawless face of the Crimson Tide season

I know you can't take away the Tide championship, but when the winningest quarterback in the history of college football is knocked out of the game early in the first quarter and is replaced by a true freshman understudy who had rarely played, it is safe to say that Bama received a huge break to say the least. And before folks say, Bama probably would have won nonetheless think about this.

1. You know Mack Brown and his staff had specific things they wanted to do to attack the Bama defense. Without McCoy those plans went out the window and they had to make an extreme adjustment.

2. Gilbert did eventually come around late in the third quarter and early in the fourth. But before that Gilbert had been 1-of-10 for -4 yards and a pick. I think if McCoy is still in the game, not only does Texas not have 24-6 surge to overcome, but they probably lead the game.

It took Gilbert too long to get comfortable in this game. McCoy would have taken advantage of Saban conservative approach.

Remember, Bama made a few special teams mistakes and the Texas defense stuffed the Tide passing attack. Imagine how different this game would have been if McElroy would have be forced to pass more than 11 times.

He had already was sacked four times in the first half and had less than 40 yards passing. The Tide probably don't pound the football with Ingram and Richardson as much as a result of being behind a few scores instead of trying to protect a lead.

The Tide are "national champions" but we don't know how different the game would have been if McCoy played more than one series.

With the score 24-21 ......if Bama's backup defensive end does not cause the Texas freshmen quarterback to fumble, the game could have gone either way......The freshmen, Gilbert, and Shipley was killing Bama and headed down the field for the final score. Bama had no answer for Shipley in the second half.....If Anders does not cause the fumble, we could be talking about a Texas victory by a Freshmen quarterback sensation.......Thank you for sharing......
