Why do some of you blame the SWAC for...

JR your boy gone say that the 99 JSU team was not playoff material when we were and so was SU. Since then you guys have not fielded a team that would contend in the playoffs. Winning against sorry DII teams and beating one OCC FCS team does not make that team world beaters.

It took us seven years to get back to a championship and 10 to win one. Then we repeated. Do you really think AA&M and ASU can out recruit JSU...LOL ASU had to cheat to get ahead and AA&M started winning when we hired Bell. So that argument sucks arse. It took a down JSU for them to get shine.

Now SU aint sniffed a title 2004 which is 5 years and counting. So pump your brakes. Gram and PV running the West and looking at whats returning and your recruiting so far, year 6 and 7 are fast approaching.

Shaw, what you saying is smoke and mirrors. You act like SU has been a doormat since 2004. Sure we aint been back to the SCG......but don't act like we aint been in contention in the West. Also JSU looks good because of the East. Yall have trouble beating any of the West teams. Hell if SU or PV was in the East last season we would have been to the SCG.

Stop sellin A&M short as well. AJ may not be the most well spoken coach.......but dude is solid. Just not a gift of the gab coach. They ever get a dynamic coach over there with that nice campus and good academics they could recruit with JSU. Don't fool yourself to thinking that school can't. If Doug Williams was at A&M he would have all kinds of recruits with him over there. It aint the school. Sometimes it is the style of your coach. Which is SU's problem. He got 2 years left and it is over with.

SU aint worried. We are on a countdown before the domination/swagger returns. Things are fastly rounding into shape in BR. The city is on the move and growing and SU will follow. As soon as we get Pete away from there and we have the money to bring pretty much any decent coach available. Our facilities are not to be laughed at any more so the rest of yall will not be able to tell a recruit why go to SU with those bad facilities. Those days are over. Plus they are FOOTBALL ONLY. The track team gets to use the vistors locker room in the Spring. The scariest thing for the SWAC is for SU to have a new, dynamic coach that got facilities. So hang on to the 2004 statement all you want.

LMAO!:vomit::vomit::vomit::vomit::vomit:

As SOG stated sometimes things are discussed and people make statements without the facts. Sometimes we complicate things when the real issues are right before us. If you want to be successful, the first thing one has to do is find out how those who are having success are winners, no matter what they are participating in. It would have been foolish for us to come into the SWAC and not evaluate the most successful teams in the SWAC or black college football. If our coach is out recruiting and another SWAC School offer apartments rather than living in Doms, my coach has to match that to get good ballplayers. I am amazed when I read things about what the SWAC does not do, when I have witness first hand that some schools are all for themselves. If the SWAC schools want to discuss automatic bids and playoff games, they need to agree on a position. We don't need to give up the TDC or BC to accomplish this. What we need is for our schools to take a position and clearly state what our schools want from the NCAA. When we get a seat at the table we need to present our case. Some of us have been in meeting and the question is asked "what do you want" and nobody knows what they want, therefore nothing gets done. A plan can be worked, but you cannot think up a plan when you are at the table. I was at a meeting and the top official said if your Alumni would donate more money, you all could accomplished more. I said if our Alumni had jobs and shortcuts to business deals like you do, we would have the money to give. He wanted to know what I meant. (As you 18 billions of the bail out money was given out in bonuses.) Then I asked, how did you get to where you are when you limited me to teaching and preaching.

JR you brought up the Bamas. It's funny how you guys leave out the details. A&M could not beat us pre Bell. And they dayum sure can't out recruit a JSU coach with a brain. Bama State has cheated, will continue to cheat to try to get a head.

Now you bring up this all so powerful west. Grambling is the west who lost the last three out of 4 SCG. This west that lost to the east in 2004(SU) and has had two losing seasons and missed the last 4 SCG. A west that consist of Texas southern who hired a coach worser than Bell and aint sniffed the SCG ever, PV who is winning but still cant get over the hump, Pinebluff who just got decent and got sorry the next year. And SU who keeps paying pete to not do a dayum thing. The west has been Gram and now PV in this decade. SU aint strong and it has nothing to do with facilities.

You can add on coaches offices all you want but you still gone have Pete and his staff for as long as Pete wants to be there. You're not getting the LSU left overs or transfers anymore. Les has them leaving the state for other school. YOu're losing out to the La Techs,Grams,La-Monroes of the world on recruits. Facilities want help you now because you have lost the SU luster. It does not ring lound in the home of decent mid level recruits.

So what you got football only facilities and offices. JSU,Pinebluff, A&M,Gram all have that and we still ading as well. So it will help for some of those on the fence guys but will that make a world of differece. NO because you're still not investing in summer school and off season workout. Your revenue is down and enrollment is down. Also your APR is suffering. All because you guys got lazy. You will feels this for as long as Pete wants to be in BAton Rogue.
I mean who you gone hire in two years? Who is that hot coach?

#1) Back then when it could have been a 5-3 vote, everybody fully expected all school's to modify their end of season games to comply with the playoff's.
JSU did it and GRAM went 1 or 2 times before the BC was made a permanent fixture on the date it is now.

Bamma State was not even in the SWAC yet so their compliance was an after thought.
The SWAC as a whole never even questioned the Turkey Day Classic.
As long as JSU or Alcorn could go, everything was gravey to them.

#2) As for the SCG and money, that's like trying to find BIGFOOT.
Question's have been asked for year's and NOBODY has given an answer yet.

As for JSU's President voting for it, what difference would it make if he voted against it with 5 teams from the SWAC now playing the week or weekend of the start of the playoff's.
JSU and Alcorn did what we needed to do to be compliant with the playoff's by actually MOVING our game back a week.
Nobody else did or even made the effort to try.

I don't know why the SWAC thought folks were going to modify their schedule. Coach Rob was on record with not moving the BC. The SWAC knew that. James Frank and those cats all talked. That's why they didn't do nothing when it happened.

As far as voting for it now......I meant the JSU president doing it after Rudy got fired. UAPB and TxSU just started their game so we can't really include them in the discussion. Your President aint getting pressure from the money alums at JSU to go the playoffs. That's why I say take the pulse of your own alums and see if they are as concerned about not participating as folks on the board are. Has the Blue Bengal Association told Mason they want to go the playoffs? Has Comegy lobbied for it? Me and you talking about it aint going to get neither of our schools to do anything about it. I can see my conversation on the phone with President Slaughter right now.

Me: Ralph this John R from Minneapolis how are you?

Ralph: Doing fine John, what can I do for you?

Me: I want to talk to you about approaching the board about suggesting to Gram we move the BC to be able to go the FCS playoffs

Ralph: (in his best Jim Mora voice) Playoffs......playoffs.......you talking about Playoffs.........

Me::xeye::read:

Ralph: How many alums you think feel like you John.......

Me: Don't really know. We talk about it on TSPN

Ralph: Do you realize how much of a risk in revenue that both schools may incur with moving the game........We aint sold out since Katrina and if we move it then we are setting ourselves up.

Me: I understand.......but the real sports fans want to see us compete for the playoffs

Ralph: How much money are the real sports fans willing to donate to cover the budget for our athletic program

Me::(:noidea:

Ralph: John, we go back a long ways.......I know you mean well but this topic is a dead issue. All our schools have money issues and we can't be running off to the playoffs by moving our money making games if we can't find a viable option to replace the money we potentially would lose.

Me: I understand.

Ralph: Nice talking to you John. By the way.......stop listening to those TSPN folks who have no idea and have not even talked to their own Presidents. Have a great day.

Me: muttering to myself............I told them mofos this would happened.

Shaw you have no clue do you. Do you realize how many folks are interested in replacing Pete. You would be shocked. Trust me, JR is not lying to you. Pete is done bruh..........gone.........Aint no staying as long as he wants to at this point. To many folks done changed on the SU board and the wild man Tony Clayton is the new Board Chair. See you don't pay attention to other than those negative articles about SU...........The new Chancellor came in with a big ax to mofos at SU. Alot of folks are gone and more are probably to follow. A day of reckoning has come to SU and when the smoke clears........folks going to be shocked. You will see soon enough.

LOL at who we going to hire. Man with what Pete made we can take pretty much any coach in FCS and few assistants from FBS. You got to be kidding me. Come on man........you at like SU aint nobody. You watch how many folks apply for that job. Same as the big list we had for the Chancellor's job.

If anything with my hometown not being as attractive as Baton Rouge as a city JSU has more to worry about than SU does. Mayor Holden in BR is doing way more than Frank was doing in Jackson. So appealing to a coach to want to move his family to a city on the move got to be more appealing. I know you understand that.

As far as the Bamas are concerned, let them hire the right coach at that school on the Hill. Yall like to talk about them being small time but they have a nice setup. Bama State I can't speak on because they are in turmoil. Like I said yall have it easy right now. You talk about the West but with Cole at TxSU and they having a good AD.......PV with Frazier there, Broadway at Gram........you really think the West aint strong? Even Pete stays competative. He beat yall this year didn't he? He beat the rest of the sad arse East didn't he? You know what........he is going to do it again as lazy as he is........he will find a way to be right in the thick of it. Yall done bought into the Comegy stuff so hard it is pitiful. He aint the end all be all coach in the SWAC and I rate him under Broadway as a coach and just tad better than Pete right now. Frazier is a better coach than him. Yall may have not lost the games yall did if Frazier was your coach. Yall got work to do as well. It aint no gimme that JSU is all the way back.

JR,

Can you explain this statement for me please?

Ralph: Do you realize how much of a risk in revenue that both schools may incur with moving the game........We aint sold out since Katrina and if we move it then we are setting ourselves up.

What are the risks honestly? And I'm not saying this to be funny, be practical. The BC is an annual event that has drawn its own crowd that will come regardless of when the date is...kinda like TSU vs. JSU in Memphis! Neither of our games sell out like they used to, but we still have a very strong fan base that attend those games...at least enough where can make an obvious profit.

So please elaborate on the risks that you (may) possibly incur! :lecture:

Will you JSU fans stop all this dang untruthful stories saying we couldn't beat you before Bell. We kicked your azz when were were D2 and you were the SWAC champs in the 90's. That running clock will always be history.

JR,

Can you explain this statement for me please?

Neither of our games sell out like they used to, but we still have a very strong fan base that attend those games...at least enough where can make an obvious profit.

So please elaborate on the risks that you (may) possibly incur! :lecture:

#1 Risk... loss of TV slot and revenue.

#2 Risk... loss of fans who come home for the holidays and go to the game.

#3 Risk... less eyes watching = less sponsorship $$

Now you give me the pros. It ain't about just making a profit. You have to make the CONSIDERABLE profit that the BC makes. If it is anything less than what we get now, there is no point in moving it.

I will never understand why black folks think SU and Gram should give up NBC to be in the playoffs. :smh: When has any team that won the FCS title played on NBC? Don't think these PWC's wouldn't give up the FCS title game to play on NBC. The problem is they can't so they are jealous. App St lucked and beat Mich one time, man one time and now everyone in the lil league thinks the next.

Dayum. And there you have it. The above makes me proud to be a SU grad. We make sense.

Who cares.
I said this was a dead horse and never need to be discussed again.
We gonna beat the shat out each other and then claim how good we are compared to everybody else.
That's all we got to play for.
Big DEAL..................

The ONLY sport's conference in the nation, (BESIDES THE IVY's who really don't care about sport's), that is alway's woofin' about how great we are but too scurred to put it on the line.

Oh Well.....................

Serioulsy, you guys don't think having four OOC games is a good thing? I mean if A&M schedules two OVC teams, one MEAC team and a FBS or good D2 team like UNA/TU that is a good schedule to me. Maybe I missed something?

When did anybody EVER ask Gram or SU to give up the BC. :noidea:
Please go find whoever said that and bust them out including myself.

Tell me CEE.
Just what do, from a personal point, do JSU or A@M get out of the BC.:noidea:

Tell me CEE.
How many recruit's do JSU or A@M get from the BC.:noidea:

Tell me CEE.
How much do JSU and A@M Athletic dept's improve because of the BC........Donations, Direct exposure, etc. :noidea:

It's a good game but tell me CEE the answer's to all these questions.

#1 Risk... loss of TV slot and revenue.

#2 Risk... loss of fans who come home for the holidays and go to the game.

#3 Risk... less eyes watching = less sponsorship $$

Now you give me the pros. It ain't about just making a profit. You have to make the CONSIDERABLE profit that the BC makes. If it is anything less than what we get now, there is no point in moving it.

#1 Okay, so do you think it's possible that NBC will showcase the game on another date?

#2 See my above post about people who will come to the game regardless.
It's a "staple" in the black community, which means, regardless of the date, people will COME!

#3 Again, it's the BC JR man! People will watch this.

Believe me bruh, I fully understand what you are saying, but I wouldn't give up the BC for the FCS title game. I think the presidents need to step up and talk to the NCAA and find away around these games. A&M played five OOC games last year. To me that was great. If we had won at least 3 or 4 out of five it would have been great. It just didn't work that way.

What do other schools outside of JSU and Alcron get from the Capital City Classic? How many recruits do we get from that game. How much does the athletic departments improve because of the CCC?

#1. It is possible... but we already have a DEFINITE now.

#2. You don't get it.

#3. Less people are there to see and spend. Folks are in the city who go to some events but not all. Less folks there IN PERSON means less eyes on the sponsor ads. It's like moving the Essence Fest to the weekend BEFORE July 4th. Less folks in town and less money from sponsors.

Dumb response as related to the discussion.:smh:
The CCC is the week before the playoff's and the day before the playoff bid's go out.
Therefore we are not stopping anyone.
We have already done our part to make it work. :lmao:

Therefore your lame attempt to throw this back at me failed drastically.
We are not the playoff problem since we actually moved the SOUL BOWL from Thanksgiving Day way back in 1980.

Try a different tactic dude.
I have already said any discussion's of this type is a joke from now on but I will throw fact's up just for the fun of it.

So Gram and SU was willing to move the classic because of Tulane and LSU...Better yet forced to and the Classic also moved all the way to Houston do to a natural disaster and you guys telling us that it can't be moved a week before on the normal rilvary game weekend.LOL

How fical are SU and GRam fans to be so scared of a date change?

News flash. When people think of College football, NBC is the last thought on their minds so If the Buy you classic is on the only people watching the game are people who have a interest. YOu will not get the casual football fan so change the date.
Shoot most times I just happen upon a ND game on NBC. The Turkey Day classic is what it is. ASU aint no contender without cheating so you would have your cake and eat it too.
