The Pepsi National Battle of the Bands, one of the nation’s premier showcases of HBCU marching band excellence, is headed to a new home.
Event organizers announced Tuesday that the annual August showcase will relocate to the Dallas-Fort Worth area beginning in 2027, with AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, serving as the centerpiece venue. The inaugural Dallas edition is scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 27, 2027.
The move marks a significant shift for the nationally recognized event, which for more than a decade has brought together elite HBCU marching bands, alumni, students, and fans from across the country in a celebration rooted in tradition, culture, and performance excellence.
“This move and partnership represent the next chapter for the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands,” said Derek Webber, executive producer and creator of the event. “As we look toward the future, Dallas provides an incredible opportunity to expand the experience, strengthen community engagement, and continue elevating HBCU culture and excellence on a national stage.”
Located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, AT&T Stadium is expected to anchor a weekend of activities designed to draw thousands of attendees from across the region and beyond. Organizers say the event will continue its tradition of delivering high-energy performances while also expanding its footprint through fan experiences, educational programming, and community engagement initiatives.
The relocation positions the event in one of the nation’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas, offering new opportunities for increased visibility and economic impact.
“The Dallas Sports Commission is proud to welcome the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands to Dallas beginning in 2027,” said Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission. “This event is a celebration of culture, community, education, and excellence that will bring thousands of visitors to our region while showcasing the energy and vibrancy of Dallas on a national stage.”
