Southern University’s bowling program will be led by a program legend…who just finished bowling a little over a year ago.
Four-time All-SWAC first team bowler Jailyn Rogers has been elevated to the head coaching position one year after serving as an assistant coach during the 2025-26 season.
With Rogers taking control of the program a little over a year after her graduation, this hire makes her likely one of, if not the youngest, head coaches of an NCAA Division I athletic program.
“As a three-time SWAC champion and four-time All-SWAC student-athlete, Jailyn understands the championship tradition of Southern Athletics,” Jaguars athletic director Roman Banks said in a statement. Her passion for this university, leadership, and competitive spirit make her the right person to lead our program into its next chapter.”
Rogers started her career strong with SWAC Freshman of the year honors in 2021-22 and the first of four straight appearances on the conference’s bowling first team through the 2024-25 season.
During her run as the team’s top bowler, Southern won three SWAC regular season bowling championships and made three SWAC tournament championship match appearances.
