Alabama A&M football will not face a postseason ban despite recent NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) penalties, the university confirmed.
The Bulldogs were among three SWAC football programs — along with Florida A&M and Mississippi Valley State — assessed Level Two APR penalties after falling below the NCAA’s required 930 threshold, according to the NCAA website.
Florida A&M’s penalty included a postseason ban, while Mississippi Valley State also faces restrictions on postseason play.
Alabama A&M, however, successfully filed for a waiver that preserves its postseason eligibility.
“The program remains fully eligible for all postseason opportunities,” a university statement said.

While the team is currently operating under NCAA-imposed practice limitations, school officials said those restrictions are being addressed proactively and in full compliance with NCAA guidelines.
“Our focus remains on supporting our student-athletes, maintaining compliance, and continuing to build a championship-caliber program,” the statement read.
University officials emphasized that Alabama A&M continues to uphold high standards across athletics and academics and expressed confidence in the steps being taken to meet NCAA benchmarks moving forward.
