North Carolina Central made a powerful statement in the season-opening MEAC/SWAC Challenge, overpowering Southern 31-14 on Saturday night.
Senior running back Chris Mosley emerged to star status, rushing for a career-high 180 yards on 17 carries.
His game-changing 49-yard touchdown run put the Eagles ahead late in the second quarter and energized the home crowd. Mosley’s ability to consistently find gaps and break free kept Southern’s defense on its heels throughout the game.
The Eagles’ offense was methodical and efficient, accumulating an impressive 409 total yards. Quarterback Walker Harris was the perfect conductor, completing 22 of 27 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown, expertly managing the game and keeping drives alive.
