BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern University will face Kansas State in the first round of 2013 WNIT. The WNIT committee made the announcement and pairings of the 64-team field were released on Monday night following the NCAA Tournament selections.
The game is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, inside Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan. The time will be announced on Tuesday by the WNIT committee.
This will be the first time the program will participate in WNIT postseason play. The Lady Tigers hold a 0-1 record against the Wildcats after an 84-41 loss on Dec. 1, 2000.
TSU (20-11) received the WNIT’s automatic berth after it was eliminated by Prairie View A&M with a 62-58 decision from the 2013 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Tigers entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed after capturing the SWAC regular season title. The Postseason WNIT field will consist of 31 teams that receive automatic berths, and 33 teams that are awarded at-large berths.
All games in the single-elimination format are played at the main or alternate facilities of participating schools.

Round 3: March 27-29
Quarterfinals: March 30-April 1
Semifinals: April 3-4
Championship: April 6 (3 p.m. ET start)
