With the SIAC regular season coming to a close, it will be a battle of Atlanta HBCUs on Saturday.

Both Morehouse and the Clark Atlanta come into the matchup with records under .500, with the Tigers winless on the season. Both teams are looking to end the season on a good note at this point.

Points should come in bunches

What the game will lack in stakes, is made up in what figures to be a high-scoring affair.

Both teams are giving up around 35 points per game, so points should be plentiful, though Clark Atlanta only averages 10 points per game.

The quarterback position for Clark Atlanta has pretty much been split evenly between Shariff Brown and Sean Stephens. They both have six touchdown passes each. However, what separates these two is Brown’s rushing ability. He has six rushing touchdowns on the year.

The top three receivers for the Panthers — Devon McCoy, Darren Stephens and Ronnie West — have combined for 48 receptions, 866 yards and eight touchdowns.

The only two offensive standouts for the Maroon Tigers this season have been running back Earnest Davis, (329 yards on 5 yards per carry) and wide receiver Brogan Kart(17 receptions and 154 yards).

There is no question that the defensive MVP for Morehouse this year has been defensive end Tyler Hunter. He leads the team with nine tackles for loss, five sacks and three quarterback hits.

The impact players will decide this one

Several other defensive standouts for the Maroon Tigers, include Dantez Simpson (11.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback hits and one forced fumble); Caleb Grant (four tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble); Daylon Land (4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one quarterback hit and one forced fumble); and Joel Kirtmar Jr. (five tackles, 2.5 sacks, three quarterback hits, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery).

Clearly, defense will be the key for Morehouse on senior day.

They must stand out on that side of the ball.  For Clark Atlanta, their offensive stars must show up in the final outing of the year.
