Southern (6-8, 5-2) 51, Alabama A&M (8-8, 3-3) 32
BATON ROUGE – Southern jumped out on Alabama A&M early and never looked back on the SWAC-TV Game of the Week. The Jaguars led by as much as 23 points and 29-8 at halftime. The largest lead of the game for Southern was 24 points at 49-25 with 6:14 left. Kendra Coleman was the only player on either team to score in double-figures. She led Southern with 21 points. Alyssa Strickland had seven points to lead A&M.

Grambling (7-10, 3-4) 59, Jackson State (7-9, 4-3) 55 OT
JACKSON – Grambling was the only road team to survive on Saturday, edging Jackson State in overtime. Neither team led by more than six points the entire game and the contest was tied eight times in regulation. The eighth deadlock sent the game into overtime tied at 49-all. GSU scored the first six points on the extra frame to take a 55-49 lead. JSU climbed back to within three at 57-54 with 14 seconds left, but got no closer. Markisha Patterson led GSU with 11 points, while Wymeka Randle finished with 10 rebounds. Kiana McCarty paced JSU with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Rachel Jones added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Tiffany Kellum tallied 10 points and five rebounds.

Alcorn State (7-10, 5-2) 56, Alabama State (6-9, 3-3) 49
LORMAN – A late rally fell short for Alabama State as Alcorn State moved into first place in the SWAC East Division. The Lady Braves led by as much as 11 points in the first half and 26-17 at halftime. Alcorn increased their lead to 13 at 30-17 with 18:35 remaining. But, the Hornets went on a 24-12 run to close the gap to one point at 42-41 with 6:16 left. Later, Alabama State would tie the game at 49-49 at the 2:47 mark. Down by two the Lady Hornets took a time out with a little over two minutes left in the game. However, the Lady Hornets were able to score again. Kiara Ruffin led Alcorn State with 15 points. Jasmine Quinn led Alabama State with a season high 11 points. Quentori Alford had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Prairie View (6-11, 3-3) 61, Mississippi Valley State (7-10, 4-2) 56
PRAIRIE VIEW – Latia Williams had 18 points and 12 rebounds as Prairie View knocked Mississippi Valley State out of first place. Kiara Etienne chipped in 11 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Jeannette Jackson contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. Alia Frank and Brittney Lakes each had 14 points to lead MVSU. PVAM led 28-21 at halftime. The Lady Panthers led by as much as 10 points in the second half, but the Devilettes rallied to get within a basket at 39-37 with 11:06 left. The Panthers fought off the MVSU surge, but later the Devilettes were within two again at 51-49 with 3:02 left. PVAM responded with five unanswered to put the game on ice.

Texas Southern (3-13, 2-4) 57, Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-17, 0-6) 36
HOUSTON – Texas Southern won their second game in their last three tries, knocking off Arkansas-Pine Bluff, who is still looking for their first win. TSU only led 20-18 at halftime, but blew the game open in the second half, outscoring UAPB 37-18 in the final 20 minutes. Gianne Fleming led TSU with 14 points. Janae Lyde added 13 points, while Crystal Anyiam had 11 rebounds to go with eight points. Chigozi Okwumabua had eight points and nine rebounds to lead UAPB.
