Mississippi Valley State (7-9, 4-1) 78, Southern (5-8, 4-2) 61
Itta Bena – Mississippi Valley State climbed into first place with a convincing win over Southern. Lenise Stallings led the Devilettes with 21 points. Ka’Neshia Smith added 14 points, De’Kisha Fondon 11 points and Alia Franks grabbed 11 rebounds. Kendra Coleman had a game-high 24 points to lead JSU. She also had seven rebounds. Jamie Floyd dropped in 18 points and seven rebounds. MVSU led 36-31 at the half, then went up by double digits in the final 20 minutes. Southern didn’t get closer than seven in the second half.

Alcorn State (6-10, 4-2) 65, Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-16, 0-5) 51
Pine Bluff – Alcorn State kept pace with the top of the sWAC pack with a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Carolinsia Crumbly scored a season-high 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Kiara Ruffin added 19 points, scoring 10 points from the freethrow line. Sharnika Breedlove had 12 rebounds to go with six points. Chigozi Okwumabua and Jenise Gentry each finished with 15 points to lead UAPB.

Jackson State (7-8, 4-2) 55, Texas Southern (2-13, 1-4) 38
Houston – Jackson State took advantage of poor shooting by Texas Southern to pull into a three-way tie for second place in the SWAC. The homestanding Tigers hit only 15-of-52 shots (.288), including 2-of-13 from beyond the arc. JSU didn’t shoot much better (.350), but it was enough to get the win. Tiffany Kellum led JSU with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Dominique Brothern added 114 points and Beatrice Banks had 11. TSU was led by Gianne Fleming who finished the game with nine points.

Prairie View (5-11, 2-3) 68, Grambling (6-10, 2-4) 55
Prairie View – Three players scored in double-figures as Prairie View beat Grambling. Kiara Etienne led the way with 21 points. Ashley Hampton-Finch added 13 points, while JaQuandria Williams scored a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Cierra Ceazer paced GSU with 14 points, while Alexis Andrews tallied 11 points and nine rebounds and Tonieshwa Mack contributed 10 points.
