Grambling State’s Shakyla Hill makes NCAA history with rare quadruple-double

Grambling State guard Shakyla Hill messed around and got a quadruple-double.

Hill placed herself in the NCAA record books after a stat line that read 15 points, 10 steals, 10 assists and 10 rebounds in the Tigers’ 93-71 win over Alabama State Wednesday night.

Hill became the fourth player in NCAA Division 1 women’s basketball history to achieve the feat in a game. “She is very unselfish,” Grambling State head coach Freddie Murray said. “She had to do a lot more last year because we didn’t have a lot of pieces. Now she is surrounded by players who feed off what she gives us. To get a quadruple-double is just a testament to the hard work she puts in.”

Shakyla Hill made some dope history today in women’s D-1 basketball. Grambling State has a ball player on their hands. #SWAC

The last quadruple-double was accomplished by Arkansas State’s Sonja Tate during the 1992-93 season. The first unofficial quadruple-double was recorded in 1985 by Louisville’s Jackie Spencer. In that game, she recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds, 14 assists and 10 steals.
