Social media is swarming with speculation that North Carolina Central head coach Jerry Mack is apparently leaving to be an assistant at Rice.
One report indicated that Mack, who has been at NCCU since 2013, has accepted the position of offensive coordinator at Rice under former Stanford offensive line coach Mike Bloomgren, who was recently hired as the Owls head coach.
North Carolina Central nor Rice has confirmed the reports.
While at NCCU, Mack went 31-15, and won a share of three MEAC championships, including leading the Eagles to the Celebration Bowl in 2016. This season, NCCU finished 7-4, which was good for a fourth-place tie in the conference.
