Stillman College announced Thursday the school will drop its football program.
Reports indicate the school will only field men’s tennis and women’s basketball starting in 2016-17.
Stillman, a Division II school in the SIAC, finished the 2014 season 3-6. The program’s last game was a 34-7 loss to Kentucky State on Nov. 7.
The school is expected to release additional information regarding the decision to no longer continue its football program.
Stillman is the second HBCU this year to drop football. In January, Paine College shut down its football program after one season because of “financial health” concerns, the school said.
