Meet The School With The Worst Non-Conference Schedule In Black College Football

Texas Southern believes everything — even college their 2015 non-conference schedule — goes with Bacone.

Coming off a season in which they lost their last five games to finish the 2014 campaign a disappointing 5-6, the Tigers desperately need to get off to a good start in the SWAC West that has seen nearly each division foe make a marketed improvement.

Everyone in the greater Houston area is anticipating the season opener on Sept. 5 that will pit Texas Southern against Prairie View. A SWAC rivalry game right off the bat should be fun.

You know what Texas Southern is going to do for an encore on Sept. 11?

Play renowned NAIA Bacone College.

That’s right. Bacone College that sits on Bacone Road in Muskogee, Oklahoma in a papier-mâché game.

The marketing department at TSU has to give the first 500 fans who show up at BBVA Compass Stadium bacon strips, bacon bites, BLTs or bacon burger dogs as part of a promotion, right?

All this talk of Bacone is making me hungry, ya’ll.

The TSU non-conference slate gets even later in the season when the mighty Tigers get their Holy Ghost on and plays Faith College on Senior Citizens Night on Oct. 31.

Are we all being Punk’d? Is this some elaborate scheme drawn up by the powers that be to distract us from Meek Mill getting deep fried like bacon by Drake?

There’s bacon again.

But Texas Southern having a Chris Bosh-like non-SWAC schedule should come as no surprise.

TSU reached deep in the Division II barrel and scheduled Central State and Texas College last season.

The Tigers are not Mississippi Valley State or Savannah State that need to schedule these types of games to give their fans a sense of hope in what normally is a race to stay out of the basement most years.

The Texas Southern non-conference slate is simply an embarrassment. The Tigers will without question beat hapless Faith and Bacone.

Then falter in SWAC play like they’ve done the last four seasons.

Enjoy your Bacone, Texas Southern. Just don’t be under the impression triumphs against target practice will leave Tigerdom with much Faith beyond that.
