BIRMINGHAM – Uniqua Mitchell and Jaquanna Davis each recorded a double-double to push Claflin over Lane, 73-59, in the opening round of the 2015 SIAC Basketball Tournament on Monday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Mitchell scored a game high 23 points to complement 10 rebounds and Davis added 17 points and 19 boards.
CU (14-13) shot 32 percent from the field but capitalized in the paint with 36 points in the post and 14 from fast break opportunities.
Shaniece Brown added 12 points knocking down both three-point attempts and all six shots from the charity stripe.
LC (5-20) was led by Chloe Roberts, Crystal Rayford, and Tiffany Martin. Roberts led the Lady Dragons with 12 points, Rayford added a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Martin chipped in 10 as LC shot 25 percent overall despite getting 18 points from the bench.
