Jackson State doesn’t hold its first official fall practice until Tuesday, but the Tigers are excited to make another run at the SWAC championship game for third straight season.
Under a new regime, of course in 2014.
“They’re so eager and ready to go,” Harold Jackson told the Clarion-Ledger. “They came in and asked, ‘Hey coach are we going to be on the field tomorrow?’ I said, ‘No, we got to do physicals before we get on the field.’ But they’re ready to go, and the coaches are eager and ready to go also.”
Even though JSU will be working with new offense coordinator Timmy Chang and a new quarterback, wide receiver Michael Perkins said the offense will be ready when practice begins in less than 24 hours.
“It helped with the whole meshing process of us getting together, us knowing, ‘OK, he can do that, he can do this,'” Perkins said. “Just being out there with the guys and being able to click with them, it was great.”
Perkins had 17 catches and two touchdowns in 2013.
JSU will hold practice at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
