Following the departure of men’s basketball coach Chris Wright, the Langston Lions will now also be in the market for a women’s basketball coach.
Chris Vincent, who has served as Langston’s women’s basketball coach for the past two seasons, has stepped down from his position to accept a similar role with Division II program, Purdue Northwest.
Coach Vincent initially came to Langston in 2022 as an assistant on the men’s basketball team under coach Wright.
At the conclusion of the 2024, season, after helping lead the Lions to the National Championship game, he was hired as the Lions’ women’s basketball coach.
He helped lead the Lady Lions to a 55-9 overall record in his two seasons as head coach, including a 40-6 record in Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) play.
In his first season, Langston claimed its first conference tournament championship in school history, beating Mid-America Christian 64-54 in the title game.
Langston appeared in the NAIA national tournament in each of Vincent’s two seasons as head coach, advancing to the Regional Semifinal in 2025.
The Lions now have vacant roles for their men’s and women’s basketball teams after Coach Wright was officially introduced as Alabama State’s men’s basketball coach.
