The Allen Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team brought in the New Year in dominant fashion, taking down the Fort Valley State Wildcats in an 89-39 road win.

This is the fifth straight win for Allen against Fort Valley State, including the third straight win in FVSU’s home gym.

Allen is now riding a three-game win streak, improving its record to 8-4 overall, including a 7-3 record against the SIAC.

The Yellow Jackets have matched their 12-game start from last season, having finished last season with an 18-9 record, marking their best performance since joining the SIAC in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats drop to 1-10, dropping to 1-8 in conference play, including a 0-3 record against SIAC East division opponents.

Allen forward Peighton Jambor led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field, adding eight rebounds, a block, and a steal.

This is Jambor’s third 20-point performance in her last four outings, shooting over 50% from the field in each of those games.

Morgan Smith chimed in with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the Yellow Jackets, and Eboni Clay finished with 11 points.

Fort Valley State was led by Aaniyah Allen with 17 points, along with three steals.

It was a rough shooting performance for the Wildcats, combining to shoot just 17% (9-of-53) in the game.

They shot below 35% in all four individual quarters, including scoring just two points in the first quarter after missing all seven of their shot attempts.

On the other hand, Allen had its best shooting game of the season, combining for just above 50% (38-of-75) as a team. In the final three quarters, the Yellow Jackets shot a combined 58% from the field.
