North Carolina Central continues to trend towards a return to Atlanta.
Florida A&M continues to trend in a worse direction.
Central jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 45-7 win over the Rattlers, their fourth straight win.
FAMU fell to 1-5.
Walker Harris completed 21 of 27 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns, while running for a score also.
Chris Mosley carried 23 times for 131 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown run that put the game out of reach at 42-7 early in the fourth quarter.
One could argue that the game was over before Mosley’s scintillating run. Harris found freshman tight end Rodney Lesane for a 14-yard touchdown with four minutes left in the first quarter, giving North Carolina Central a lead they hold the remainder of the contest.
Four minutes into the second quarter, Eric Adams intercepted a Jett Peddy pass and ran it back 40 yards to open up a 14-0 lead for the Eagles. Harris completed a touch pass to Refeno Vangates for a four-yard score, then A.J. Rodgers walked into the end zone from the two-yard line on 4th and goal just 10 seconds before the end of the half.
Harris added a four-yard rushing touchdown and Kaleb Robinson (six-for-six on PATs) contributed a 38-yard field goal in the final period.
Florida A&M’s only score came in the third period on a one-yard run by running back Thad Franklin Jr.
North Carolina Central’s defense limited the Rattler offense to 196 total yards and forced three turnovers, all interceptions. Currently, Florida A&M is allowing nearly 30 points per game while scoring just under 12 points per contest.
The Eagle offense compiled 486 total yards, 195 coming on the ground. Central is averaging 51.5 points per game during their win streak.
And now they have a week to rest before Delaware State invades Durham for homecoming and the beginning of MEAC play Saturday Oct. 25.
