The highly anticipated Georgia Football Classic that was supposed to feature Mississippi Valley State and Florida A&M will no longer be held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The game, initially scheduled for Oct. 4, was set to be an HBCU football showcase. However, confusion now surrounds its location, ticketing, and logistics, according to the website.
Earlier this year, FAMU’s athletic director Angela Suggs and Mississippi Valley State had announced the home game would move from MVSU’s Rice–Totten Stadium in Itta Bena, Mississippi, to the NFL stadium in Atlanta.
The event was promoted as part of the Georgia Football Classic and promised to showcase HBCU tradition on a grand stage.
However, as the game date approaches, details remain unsettled, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
If the stadium does not host the game, it is expected that Mississippi Valley State will revert to hosting the matchup at its campus in Itta Bena. Regardless of the venue, the game remains an important SWAC showdown, with Florida A&M entering with a 1-3 record and Mississippi Valley State still seeking its first win of the season.
