In their first home game of the season, the Albany State Golden Rams put forth another dominant offensive performance in a 57-14 win over the Allen Yellow Jackets.

Albany State is now averaging 52.3 points per game in three games against Division II opponents (45.5 points per game overall).

The Golden Rams finished with a season-high 572 offensive yards, marking the second straight time they have reached at least 500 total yards against Allen (also the second straight time they scored 57 points).

Their win was highlighted by their strong performance on the ground, rushing for 285 yards and five different players scoring a rushing touchdown (six rushing touchdowns total).

Sophomore running back Tiant Wyche led the charge with 104 rushing yards on 11 attempts and a touchdown. Backup quarterback Jayden Kinney rushed for 66 yards on five attempts, scoring two rushing touchdowns and a 66-yard passing touchdown.

Despite passing for a season-low 151 yards, Isaiah Knowles made a profound impact for the Golden Rams, contributing two touchdowns to extend his streak of consecutive games with at least one touchdown to 13.

Albany State took control of this game from the outset, scoring on four of its first offensive possessions (also recorded a safety) to take a 29-7 lead in the second quarter.

After putting another touchdown on the board before the end of the half to take a 36-7 lead, Allen had a chance to answer with a score of its own on a big pass play.

With the ball past midfield, Yellow Jackets junior Jamir Dismukes connected with Nanders Lawrence on a pass up the seam and seemingly had a walk-in touchdown.

However, before reaching the end zone, Lawrence slowed up approaching the line and had the ball punched out by Andrew Ruffin, rolling into the end zone out of bounds for a touchback.

This was Allen’s last realistic opportunity to keep itself in the game, as Albany State ended the third quarter scoring a pair of touchdowns in the final minute to put it out of reach.

Albany State will put its perfect record against Division II opponents on the line next week when it goes back on the road for a clash with the Lane Dragons.
