HBCU campuses across the United States are shutting down due to threats of violence against the campus community.
Hampton University and Virginia State both announced campus closures after receiving threats. No further information has been made public, but both schools have encouraged boarding students to stay in their dorms, commuter students to stay off campus and non-essential personnel/activities to stay clear.

Virginia State has shut down for Thursday while Hampton announced closure for Thursday and Friday. No word if athletic events or other campus activities are affected by these closures.

Following Hampton and Virginia State’s announcements, Bethune-Cookman, Alabama State, Southern University (Baton Rouge), Clark Atlanta and Spelman announced similar closures.
Clark Atlanta, according to HBCU Gameday, lifted their lockdown and their Thursday night football game against Fort Valley State is expected to proceed as scheduled.
