After a strong season in the United Football League as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks, former Alcorn State running back Jarveon Howard is making the jump to the NFL.

The former Braves back will be making his way to Western New York, playing for the reigning AFC Championship runner-up Buffalo Bills.

During the 2025 UFL season, Howard finished with 316 rushing yards and three touchdowns for a Battlehawks team that posted a league-leading 8-2 record.

This included a 74-yard rushing touchdown against the Houston Roughnecks that set a then-league record for the longest run in its regular season history.

The former two-time All-SWAC First team selection returns to the NFL, where he previously signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 2024 before being released. Howard led Alcorn in rushing each of his two years on the team, rushing for 1275 yards in 2022 and 773 in 2023.

Howard comes to the Buffalo Bills after Darrynton Evans, a 2020 third-round draft pick who they signed in free agency from the Chicago Bears, was placed on IR with a hamstring injury.

Led by reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills won their fifth straight AFC East division championship last year, posting a 13-4 record.

They advanced to the AFC championship game before being upended by the then two-time reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Howard is now one of two HBCU alum on the Buffalo Bills roster, joining former North Carolina Central cornerback Brandon Codrington, who served as the team’s primary return specialist during the 2024 season.
