Nakeya Hall has stepped down as head coach of Grambling State University’s softball program after seven seasons, the university announced Saturday.
A national search will be launched immediately to identify her successor, according to GSU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Trayvean D. Scott.
“On behalf of Grambling State University and our entire athletics department, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Coach Hall for her years of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth of our softball program and our student-athletes,” said Scott in a statement. “Her efforts both on and off the field have helped shape the lives of many young women, and her presence within our program has made a meaningful difference. We are thankful for the passion and perseverance she brought to Grambling, and we wish her nothing but continued success in the next chapter of her journey.”
During her tenure, Hall compiled a program-best 119 victories and the second‑highest winning percentage (.424) in school history. Under her leadership, the Lady Tigers advanced to the SWAC Championship Game in 2023 for the first time since 2001 and tied the program record with 33 wins in a single season.
Hall also coached seven All‑SWAC selections, including 2025 SWAC Player of the Year Kamryn Broussard and 2023 SWAC Freshman of the Year Cadashia Collins.
