Alabama State University’s standout sprinter Jamarion Stubbs, fresh off a historic season and Olympic Trials appearance, has announced his commitment to continue his collegiate track career with the University of Arkansas.
Stubbs, a Las Vegas native, made headlines by earning First Team All-American honors after placing seventh in the 200-meter dash at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
His journey from a promising freshman to one of the nation’s elite sprinters has been marked by record-breaking performances and a relentless drive for excellence.
Stubbs previously competed at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, where he qualified for the finals in the 200-meter dash, narrowly missing a spot on Team USA for the Paris Games.
Reflecting on his time at Alabama State, Stubbs expressed gratitude for the support he received. “To be an All-American is a dream come true. I would like to thank Coach Beene, Coach Anderson, my teammates, and our athletic training staff for supporting and preparing me to achieve this honor,” Stubbs said in a social media statement.

His rapid improvement and growing confidence were evident throughout the season, as he broke school records and claimed multiple Southwestern Athletic Conference titles.
The move to Arkansas represents a significant step for Stubbs, who will join one of the nation’s premier track and field programs.
“I’ve gotten a lot more consistent and committed to my training,” Stubbs said earlier this month. “Just because I’m running against pros or other top athletes doesn’t mean anything because I’m one of them also. I just have to run my race and do what I usually do – go out there and compete”.
Stubbs leaves Alabama State as one of the most decorated sprinters in program history.
