Here is a list of HBCU athletes who qualified for event finals at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Jordan Pierre, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Event: Men’s 400m

In the men’s 400m semifinals, Jordan Pierre ran a personal best 45.44 time to snag the qualifying spot in the finals. This marks the second time in the past three years that an HBCU athlete has qualified for the finals in this event. Pierre is seeking to become the first HBCU athlete to win this discipline since Randolph Ross did so in consecutive years in 2021 and 2022.

Jarrett Gentles, Coppin State

Event: Men’s 400 hurdles

One of four HBCU athletes to compete in the semifinals of the men’s 400 hurdles, Jarrett Gentles overcame a late stumble to make it into the finals with a 50.18-second time. He becomes the first Coppin State athlete to qualify for the finals of an individual track event since 2021.

Marcia Sey, Howard

Event: Women’s 100 hurdles

Howard’s Marcia Sey is the only women’s HBCU athlete to qualify for the finals in an individual track event. She did so in the women’s 100 hurdles, finishing in 12.88 seconds, the best time run by a non-automatic qualifier. Sey is also the only HBCU athlete to qualify for the finals of two different events, also doing so as a member of Howard’s 4×100 relay team.

Howard

Event: Women’s 4×100 relay

Howard’s women’s 4×100 relay team is the only HBCU relay squad that will compete for a national championship. Despite a faulty first-handoff, the Lady Bison still managed to set a new school record with a 43.08-second mark.

The following is a list of HBCU athletes who will compete in the final of a field event at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships:
